I've always wanted a macro lens but it's such a specialized lens that I rarely need for my photography and I didn't want to spend the money for a lens I hardly use. I decided to bite the bullet and purchase this lens because it's half the price of the native Nikkor 105 micro lens. After using now for about 6 months I'm very impressed with the image quality, I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is. However there are a couple of negatives. One, the build quality feels really cheap. Lot's of plastic on this lens. And two, it isn't AF compatible with the FTZ mount for my Z cameras. I don't know if that's and FTZ issue or Tokina issue, but I couldn't find lack of compatibility information anywhere I looked. The AF does however work perfectly fine with my F-mount cameras (D800 and D850). Ultimately image quality is king for me, and that coupled with the price is why this lens gets 4 stars.
