Never clean an anode. It's serves no purpose. Here's the reason. current and voltage is applied at center of the anode which cannot be cleaned. Anodes automatically clean during ionization process. So cleaning the anode will only result in frequent anode replacements, wasted minerals and significantly increased costs. Save your money and time, don't clean the anode.

Please look closely at the directions. You only use 2 oz at a time, and fill the jar with water after you start with the 2 oz. Then you can reuse that same solution again and again. A full 8 oz bottle easily lasts a full year. Just remix after 2 or 3 months during swim season.
