Product Description Mili (Jaya Bhaduri), a vivacious girl who gets on with everyone in her building. Curious about a new occupant (Amitabh Bachchan) of the top floor of the building, she finds herself thoroughly snubbed when he rudely asks her to stay out of his life! Other occupants of the building oppose his occupancy as he is reputed to be an ill-mannered drunkard. However, he soon finds her getting under his skin and gradually she gets him to open up about his painful past. Mili too has her own secrets which she is loath to let out. About the Actor Born under the Libran sun sign, Amitabh Bachchan celebrates his birthday on 11th October. He was born in 1942 in Allahabad, as Amitabh Harivansh Srivastav to Dr.Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. His father was a well known poet. Bachchan was his pen name. When Amitabh entered the film industry he replaced Srivastav with Bachchan. He was initially christened Inquilab but this was later changed to Amitabh that means limitless lustre, which is so apt. Ajitabh is his younger brother.Bachchan studied in Allahabad at Jnana Pramodhini and Boys High School. He also put in a few years at Sherwood College in Nainital and Kirori Mal College. In 1972 he appeared in movies like ""Sanjog"", ""Bansi Birju"", ""Ek Nazar"" and also narrated ""Bawarchi"". 1973 saw significant development in Bachchan's career when director Prakash Mehra cast him in the leading role for the film ""Zanjeer"" as Inspector Vijay Khanna. In 1974, Bachchan made several guest appearances in films such as ""Kunwara Baap"" and ""Dost"", before playing a supporting role in the highest grossing film of that year, ""Roti Kapda Aur Makaan"". Released on 15 August 1975, was ""Sholay"", which became the highest grossing film of all time in India. Bachchan had now consolidated his position in the industry and from 1976 through to 1984 would receive an unprecedented number of Filmfare Best Actor Award Awards and nominations.In 1984, Amitabh took a break from acting and briefly entered politics. In 1988, Bachchan returned to films, playing the title role in Shahenshah, which was a box office success due to the hype of Bachchan's comeback. He taught mathematics and science for some time.His debut directorial venture, Musafir (1957), was not a success, but he persisted and received acclaim for his second film Anari in 1959. The film, crew and cast won five Filmfare Awards, with Mukherjee only losing the Best Director Award to his mentor, Bimal Roy.In the following years he made numerous films. Some of his most notable films include: Anuradha (1960), Asli-Naqli (1962), Anupama (1966), Aashirwad (1968), Satyakam (1969), Guddi (1971), Bawarchi (1972), Mili (1975), Chupke Chupke (1975), Khoobsurat (1980) and Bemisal (1982). He was the first to introduce Dharmendra in comedy roles, through Chupke Chupke, and gave Amitabh Bachchan his big break with Anand in 1970, along with Rajesh Khanna, he also introduced Jaya Bhaduri to Hindi cinema in his film Guddi. Having worked with his mentor, Bimal Roy as an editor, in films like Madhumati, he was much sought after as an editor as well.Hrishikesh Mukherjee was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award by the Government of India, in 1999.Mukherjee was chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification and of the National Film Development Corporation.
