Attention golf lovers! Celebrate your favorite game with unique door hardware!I was fortunate in that I got to test the soccer ball version of these doorknobs to see what regular life is like with a lighted door knob, and I must admit testing was a lot of fun!To begin, the light isn't just one solid color; it cycles through seven colors - red, blue, green, purple, aqua, light green and pale blue. Each color is around for about a second, and the time from when the doorknob goes on (first touch) to when it goes off (if not touched again) is around one minute. The colors itself is much more subtle than the pictures, especially during the day. At night, it provides just enough light to see where you are going. A nice side benefit for parents, the doorknob lets you know which child has been up if you hear a noise...but you have to be up within that one minute. If the doorknob gets touched a second time, the entire cycle lasts a minute from the last touch. When you first install the batteries, it will seem like the light is staying on a long time...it is most likely on because it was touched multiple times! Within a few hours, you get used to it...and the timing falls into place. The doorknobs go on from vibrations when you walk by once in a while. I guess if you do a lot of celebrating in your man cave, the doorknob will celebrate with you!Even without the light show, these are beautiful passage doorknobs. They have nice weight and size, a nice range of popular finishes and styles, and are easy to install. BTW - if you don't want to have a lighted doorknob, you do not have to install the lighting unit. You can light only one side if that is your preference.I will make these suggestions.1. Each unit comes with two 3 volt batteries taped together. Do not separate the batteries! Place them in the units with the writing side down and the grid side toward the top.2. When changing batteries, put a folded towel on the floor just in case you accidentally drop the doorknob or the set screw falls down.3. When getting the unit out of the doorknob to change the battery, shove the door...the unit should pop out. Check for set screw obstruction.4. Since you have to change batteries occasionally, make certain you install the doorknob with the set screw up for easier switch outs. Most doorknobs are generally installed with the set screws facing down, so if you are having someone do the install for you, let them know.5. Store the Allen/hex key on the top of the door jamb if you can reach that high (just a personal preference and suggestion.)
