Works
I found by accident this dehumidifier is sold under different brand names at different prices. Don't know who the real manufacturer is.It seems to work well. The output air is strong and very warm, and it is quieter than the average dehumidifier (I have 3 others).I use it to blow dry my hair after shower. The condensate gets pump out very slowly, if you choose this option. They drip out of the hose. At first I thought something is wrong and contacted Whynter. They thought there might be a leak around the pump and instructed me to open the unit to check it. I found no leak. In the end, I concluded it is by design -- the pump used is intended for coffee machine. They repurpose it as a condensate pump and, slow as it is, it gets the job done. This dehumidifier is indeed listed in energystar.gov web site as a certified dehumidifier. However, I am skeptical about the efficiency claimed because this level of energy efficiency (2.8L/kWh) is only claimed by much larger and expensive units. Unfortunately I have no easy way to measure it, so I'll take their word for it for now.edited: I could not reproduce a problem I mentioned in a previous review, so I deleted that part and adjusted the rating.

Good first impression...
Update: 7/2020 the control board went bad and I can't find parts for this device. I'm trying to macgyver something, but getting actual parts from the manufacturer appears to be near impossible.Update: 2 years later, this is still going strong. The price has also dropped by over one hundred dollars since I bought one. It's a bargain, and it's a work horse. My only complaint is that the bucket becomes quite gross since the pump does all the work. You must clean it with either vinegar or bleach regularly to maintain a mold free bucket. I am contemplating buying another for my new larger unfinished basement. Highly recommended!Just got this today. Out of the box, it appears very well built and was very easy to setup. I found it extremely quiet for it's size. It replaced a unit half the size and capacity and is far quieter than any unit I've ever owned. The biggest question is longevity and I'll be reporting back. For now, I can't give it a full five stars because longevity is unknown. If this unit lasts more than a few years, it's a five star device for sure.

Update: Flimsy micro switch
Update: Probably have had two of them for about 3 years. They do a great job, quite (review below). However, switch that triggers unit when buckets full is very flimsy and in the way. Bent one of them over a year ago but was able to fix. Now the other is bent beyond repair. Have seen this complaint in other reviews.Have owned two of these for about 1 1/2 years. Had mildew/humidity issues in garage. Initially had one for a couple months and it was doing a good job with humidity keeping it around 55% in the South East where it's usually around 80-90% outside. But it seemed to be running all the time and I figured I would get another to help distribute the work load. My garage is around 400 square ft but has a high ceiling of around 12-13' so a lot of cubic ft plus it's a garage, not exactly air tight. Even in a garage that's no where near air tight I can get it as dry as I want, even if it's over 90% humidity outside. Have not had any mechanical issues with either machine. Noticed the humidity reading is off between the two, usually by about 5-10% but random, not a consistent difference, that's why 4 stars and not 5. I had a humidity meter but it was off my 20% so I just go with the readings on these and a feel for what seems dry enough to prevent mildew or the pavement from sweating. Overall very happy with these.

Works great BUT...
When I unpacked this unit I was desperate to get the moisture out of my basement, as the first product I ordered had to be returned for malfunction (not the same one as this). So I have had it plugged in and operating and it seems to be working fine, BUT...... when I unpacked the unit it seemed fine until I took the (normal securing tape to hold pieces together during shipment) and found that there were two places on the front of the unit that had been poorly assembled. Plastic exterior front panel and side panels had been shoved together haphazardly making deformed dents and dimples and cracking the edges slightly. So they just put some tape over that. I assume to get it passed QC.It works and I haven't decided if I will return it because I really need that moisture gone now. BUT, man, am I angry!!!

Micro switch poor design
The micro switch is a bad design on the unit. It is a flimsy wire that gets caught and bent as the bucket is pulled out and inserted. It broke off and the dehumidifier will overflow without that sensor to stop it from overflowing. Poor design on that. Getting a replacement part is out of stock. Even to install another the whole unit would need to be taken apart. Very complicated. I’ve been dealing with getting a replacement part or serviced for three weeks. Spoke to Jenny with customer service and she is trying to resolve my issue. Meanwhile to spend another $400 plus on another unit after two years is not in the budget. My basement remains wet until Jenny can help.Other than the poor design on sensor switch the unit does work great.

GREAT UNIT - but read if you've had the unit stop working.
This is a good size dehumidifier and it's perfect size for my very large finished basement. That said, after 6 months the unit stopped working. It would display the empty bucket code even when the bucket was already empty. I contacted customer support and they gave me a few things to try. Bottom line is I DID get this unit back working again! First, I located that floating arm on the bucket itself. It appears "locked" inside the bucket but i moved it outside then back inside where it was. Next, on the unit itself (not the bucket) there are two metal contacts that the bucket has to touch to work again. I moved these gently. I placed the bucket back in and the unit started working again and has so ever since! To be honest, customer service was somewhat helpful -- not very...but the unit works fine now so all is good! Overall, it's a great product but maybe the metal sensors or the float needed a little prodding... Enjoy!
