Excellent utility everyday-carry knife/multitool
I'll admit the Kershaw Select Fire knife/multi-tool is a little bulkier and heavier than I was expecting, but I've gotten used to it quickly. The blade out-of-the-box is wicked-sharp and seems to be holding an edge well, plus it's of a size big enough for serious cutting. Love how easy it is to open one-handed, and I have very small hands. Plus the bit/screwdriver part is amazingly useful and well-constructed. One thing I like is unlike my other multitool, a Leatherman Wave, which I use for more serious projects, the Select Fire takes standard hex bits. I'm already thinking about exchanging the included smaller Phillips bit for a torx. Even if not, as long as I have the extra bits with me or in my toolbox, I won't have to go hunting for a bit-driver for simple jobs.My previous everyday carry-knife used to be a Leatherman Juice, but honestly besides the knife, the only other tools on it I needed often were the screwdrivers -- and those were a total bear to open, even with regular lubrication. I suspect the joints just get tighter over time, but it's so bad now, I need a screwdriver just to get the Juice's screwdriver bits out.I honestly don't know what the longer-term durability will be for this Kershaw, but the low price (which I got as part of a Lightning Deal here, along with free Prime shipping) simply could not be beat. Even if it only lasts a few years, I'll likely get more daily use out of it than all my other knives and multitools combined.(Update: 1/27/13: The more I've carried this knife, the more indispensable it's become. We moved in the last couple of months, and having this knife with me at all times has been a total life-saver. "Oh, I need a screwdriver to take apart and/or assemble this... no problem!" If I lost it, I'd absolutely buy a replacement ASAP. Oh, and by the way? That slot where the bit-holder fits when closed works well as a bottle opener.)(Update 11/14/14: I still have the same knife, and still carry it every day, usually tucked into the front pocket of my jeans. The blade has needed sharpening a few times over the nearly two years I've owned the Kershaw 1920 Select Fire Multi-Tool, and the bits look just a tad tarnished, probably from perspiration -- but everything still works. By the way, when the hinge is properly lubricated, I have had no trouble at all opening the blade one-handed. The screw driver bits have come in handy more times than I can count, and even the hex bit holder can be used on appropriately sized nuts. Easily the best sub-twenty buck knife I've ever owned and if I ever lose it, I'll buy another. Fortunately, it's never been more than occasionally misplacing it. It's true, I do wish Kershaw had a slightly sturdier model available, and I'd gladly pay more for it if they did. But I've never regretted buying this one.)

Great purchase for him.
Was sorta questioning the purchase of this product but once it came in I did not regret it. He loves the knife. He uses it almost daily. The little screw heads haven’t fallen out like I thought so the magnet is pretty strong. It came fairly sharpened but he likes to keep them sharp so he got it sharper. Super easy to use and absolutely worth every penny.

One of the best EDCs for the $
Probably one of the best knives money can buy. The blade is fine quality and good for an everyday carry, where this little guy excels is the screwdriver/bottle opener/standard bit design. I’ve whipped this knife out and fixed things on the fly and I’ve had other guy friends go “Oh shoot, I need one of those.” Then they actually go buy it. I know like 4 other guys that have this knife and I’ve purchased 2 for myself already. Thinking of cerakoting one in flat dark earth, that would be cool. Kershaw if you’re listening, more colors!

Very solid knife, bit function works great
If you're the type that prefers to carry around a solid knife rather than a swiss-army pocket knife, then this is definitly the tool to get. The knife is far more solid than any pocket knife/multitool I've used, so for that, it is great. The bit functionality works excellent, as the extended bit-holder locks into 3 positions (closed, 90 degree, and fully extended), and the bits are held in place on a in a holder that is on a hinge, so the bits are both easy to access but also unlikely to come loose/get lost. The knife is very heavy, giving a nice solid feel to it, but also adds weight if in a pocket; still, I'm the type that prefers heft as it makes an object feel better quality. While the knife is extended, the ergonomic grip works very well. However, this also leads into one of my complaints: it's not super easy to open with one hand. Because the grip gets larger closer to the blade, extending the thumb far enough to open it is difficult for those who don't have very long fingers; those with large hands will probably find this to be ideally made for them, but for the rest with medium/small hands will find it difficult.I only have one other complaint, and that is the locking mechanism for the knife when extended (I don't know the technical term for this type). To close the knife, you have to press down on this flat bar on the knife opening; not a major problem, but less convenient than those with a dedicated button or back-button for closing. Again, I don't know the technical terms for that so I apologize, I believe it is a "liner locking" type of knife, and has it's own advantages/disadvantages.Overall, I think this is a pretty nice knife with some added functionality, but obviously not perfect. However, when considered with the price, I think it's a great deal. I think I'll stick with my mulitool/swiss knifes for work (working in A/V occasionally calls for pliers and the like which this knife obviously lacks), but this knife will easily be my carry-around knife the rest of the time, and works great for a lot of outdoor activities.
