Orb Factory Sticky Mosaic Fairy Box

I purchased this as a project for my 6-year-old granddaughter. The box has a "mosiac by number" printed on it - boxes with numbers in them. The objective is to cover the numbered box with the appropriate color of stick-on. The stick-ons are very low quality. Most of the stick-ons are tiny foam squares, some topped with shiny paper to make them sparkle. They are very small and are placed very close together on the box. It was difficult to separate the foam pieces, peel off the foam backing, and place them properly. Some of the foam stick-ons had no adhesive. We had to use glue dots to place them. There are also some jewel stick-ons that go around the edges of the box. Seven or eight of the jewels had fallen off the plastic backing and were stuck to the inside of the box when I opened it. Some of the jewels lost their silver backing when when we peeled them off the plastic backing sheet, so you could see the number through the jewel when it was placed on the box. We couldn't simply use a different jewel because there aren't enough extras to compensate for the defective ones. We had to use glue dots for those, as well. The silver backing adheres to the glue, so when the silver backing peeled off the jewel, the glue was also still stuck to the plastic backing sheet. We had to be extremely careful in placing the foam stick-ons. The numbers are in boxes so large that the foam stickers barely cover them. There are only a few extras, so there's very little room for error. My granddaughter loves decorating things, but this was very tiring and very frustrating for her. She lost interest very quickly. I ended up doing the box myself. From a distance the box looks okay, but close up, it looks cheap and gaudy.

My 4.5 year old daughter loves pink, fairies, art and jewels. She really enjoyed adding the little jewel stickers to make her fairy box. There is not too much to this kit, but my daughter spent hours on it. I appreciated that this was one project that did not require much adult help. The jewel stickers do fall off the finished product from time to time, but our fairy box does get regular use from our not-so-careful daughter. She still likes the box, even though a few stickers have fallen off and been lost.

Putting on the stickers required some perseverance. My four-year-old would have been too impatient to work on it. My seven-year-old daughter had fun and put all the stickers on over a couple of days. I think a couple of them were labelled wrong, but she may have used the wrong ones (I didn't watch her do it the whole time). She likes decorating it. But now she doesn't use it much just like every other toy...

I bought this box and the butterfly box for my twin granddaughters who are 7 1/2 years old for Christmas this year. We only got to spend one day with them because of travels. After presents were opened, they wanted to get busy on their new boxes. I helped them just a little bit, but they did most of it. It kept their attention. The directions are quite easy to follow. They are color coded. You might have to direct kids with the flat stickies versus the bumpy ones since they are the same colors. Other than that, presto! And they loved having a little treasure box to place on their nightstand. All in all, this was a great gift!

I purchased it for my 8 year old niece. I told her it was art project for rainy day, but she couldn't wait. It ended up as a group project (3,5,6, and 8 year old working together). They had so much fun! The box has a little squares with numbers printed on it. You cover the number with the appropriate color of foam stick-ons or jewelers. The foam stick-ons are pretty good quality. We had a little problem with some of the jewels. When we peeled them off the plastic backing, the glue was stuck to the backing sheet instead of jewels. We used super glue to attached jewels to the box. The box is beautiful.

I bought one of these for my daughter for her 5th birthday 2 years ago. We are still giving them to her friends for birthday presents. Her girl friends are currently 7 & 8. It is easy for anyone to follow the instructions. A few of the gems and a few foam pieces have fallen off through the years but all in all it held up well. One of my favorite gifts to give.

Fun for my daughter to decorate but afterwards ... box is too flimsy to use as a jewelry box for too long, especially for a child.

My daughter enjoys working on her mosaic box. She likes matching the stickers correctly by color. She has really enjoyed working on the box and using it as a jewelry box.

A tad expensive for what you get, but my little one loved completing the project, took her a couple of hours (7 year old). Easy to follow instructions, more than enough mosaics to complete the sturdy cardboard box, so some left over for mishaps or other craft work. She is really pleased with the result and has duly filled it with her 'best' jewellery, in pride of place on her dressing table.I have purchased other Orb Factory products (pictures) and my little one has had great enjoyment form them. The pictures will certainly last longer than this box, as I fear handling too often will cause some of the mosaics to dislodge but as I said, there are some mosaics left over should we need to replace them.

This is a good quality box, pretty sturdy a good size and a lovely design. My 5 year old loved making this, although some of the mosaics have come off a few times so we have had to reapply. Overall though a lovely gift for a girly girl. We have bought one for a friends birthday next month too.

I bought this as a present for my niece age 5. She loved it and sat for ages sticking on the mosaics. She said it was the best present. It was also a useful jewellery box as the drawer section was big enough to hold her jewellery. The end product was very glitzy.

Bought as a gift and I am told that the receipient likes it.

This has been my little 4 years old daughters favourite place where she is keeping all her little secret things all the jewellery and other little stuff which she wants to keep safe from her brothers, I think she likes it and she uses this box time to time even its been quite sometime since we had it and she still has interest in the box so I guess it is a good find for my four year old princess. Oh yes and I bought the refurbished version and it was in superb condition.
