In the ARM mode it will sound a loud 100 dB alarm when the unit detects any motion. The alarm is activated in 2 cycles of 30 seconds each, and then resumes monitoring for motion. It will also turn on an LED light so that the user knows the alarm has been activated. The remote control allows for arming/disarming the unit before or after passing through the monitored area. There is a 20 second alarm delay so that if the alarm is triggered by user, it can be disarmed before the 30 second siren begins.. In CHIME mode, the THP212 can monitor entry points with a loud chime each time the unit detects any motion. Simple and to the point.... DECEPTIVE ...
Simple and to the point....DECEPTIVE DESCRIPTION...("RF remote for arming and disarming") this is NOT an RF remote, it is IR. Amazon must stop these BS descriptions. Yes, it's my fault I didn't pay heed to a previous reviewer that stated the same thing. Secondly, I should have noticed from the picture (although it could've been deceptive also) that the sensor had an red IR window...as does the end of the remote (which cannot be seen in the picture).I was specifically looking for an RF controlled alarm, still have yet to buy one. The other reason for the one star is the alarm is very weak - I would also question the "loud 100 dB alarm". The tone for arm/disarm seemed louder. So, to sum up, STAY AWAY. Certainly not worth the $36.00. Maybe ok for $10 but that's about all it's worth IMHO. Will be returning for refund. Thank you for your time.

Priced about right. Simple alarm that works well for notification by either chime or alarm.at this point the 4 AA battery life is unknown, but does have a port for external power (not included).

Item description is incorrect.
Item description specifically states "RF" remote. As in "Radio Frequency" This product does NOT have an RF remote. It has an "IR" remote. As in "Infrared". Which does NOT pass through walls which is the only reason I bought this "POS" because I wanted an RF trigger-able alarm. Fool me once. Done with this seller and brand.

Sometimes a warning is all it takes.
The surprise of an unexpected sound can bring an intruder back to their senses. We cannot say it works but we have not had any incidents either.
