Fantastic! actually unbelievable
It came in within a decent amount of time. Not too fast but worth the wait!I found an amazing price for this on amazon. This normally goes for around $60 but I got mine for less than $20!! The cover was curved and used and the plastic was peeling. Inside there was writing and highlighted/underlined sections. BUT I knew all of this before making my purchase. All the pages inside were in fine condition except for a couple dog-flapped corners. Lucky the notes inside were helpful. If you're looking to buy a used book online - GO FOR IT! (probably unless it says poor or very poor condition.) I'm using this book for college and I don't have to worry about writing on the pages or having to stress about selling it after for a good price.

Some like Edward Bernays who believed the "masses" needed to be ...
Well worth the read. A collection of late 19th through mid 20th Century thinkers concerned with the role of media in complex industrial society. Some like Edward Bernays who believed the "masses" needed to be manipulated and led (I guess his world view won) and others like members of the Frankfurt School of Critical Theory who believed that we ultimately have to emancipate ourselves from unjust and undemocratic exercises of power. Lot to be gleened from a reading of this great collection.

Bought if for my class !
It is a good book but kinda get boring some times. I got it for class. I think some of the readings are old fashioned and not adapted to our current media situation. Of course they are from the 20's to the 60's but it is good to be informed about the trends of media in that period.

Excellent read
Great selections in 20th century educational essays on mass media and communication. Highly recommended, especially for students in graduate programs.
