Late gift; replacement was defective.
My order was intended as a Christmas gift to my father. The package probably got lost, and the seller was kind enough to send a replacement, which I was grateful for. Naturally, the present ended up coming late due to this issue. Aside from that, it turned out to be defective. My father says the disk is inserted in the Playstation 2 but there is a “Please insert disk prompt”. I’m absolutely livid.

Although I could get Spcom I plaing on PS2, I could not get Socom II or III to play. My memory card is 64? Anything I can do about this? % stars for Socom I, but not II or III! Yours truly, Raymond Shandera M.D.

In the early 2000s, when Call of Duty and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon were making waves, there was another military shooter that quietly carved its niche: SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals for the PlayStation 2. Released in 2003, it was ahead of its time, especially in terms of multiplayer gameplay on consoles. Let’s dive into the reasons why SOCOM 3 remains etched in our memories. Pioneering Multiplayer: SOCOM 3 was a trailblazer. It introduced online co-op, allowing players to team up and strategize. The thrill of coordinating with friends to complete missions was unmatched. And yes, those late-night Convoy and Demolition matches—pure adrenaline! Voice Commands: Offline, SOCOM 3 featured speech recognition commands for AI teammates. Barking orders like a real SEAL added immersion. “Bravo, cover me!”—we felt like true operatives. Tactical Depth: SOCOM 3 emphasized teamwork and strategy. Each mission required precise execution. Whether infiltrating enemy compounds or rescuing hostages, success hinged on communication and smart moves. Map Variety: From dense jungles to urban warzones, SOCOM 3 whisked us across diverse locales. The maps were meticulously designed, offering tactical advantages and ambush points. Weapon Arsenal: The game’s arsenal felt authentic. M4A1s, MP5s, and sniper rifles—each had its purpose. Customizing loadouts was part of the fun. Community Bonding: SOCOM 3 fostered a tight-knit community. We formed squads, shared strategies, and even danced taunts before matches. It was more than a game; it was a camaraderie. Unexpected Comeback: Fast forward to 2024, and SOCOM 3 has risen from the ashes. Thanks to fan-created servers and PS2 emulation, we’re reliving those glory days. The dancing emotes still make us smile. Conclusion: SOCOM 3 U.S. Navy Seals isn’t just a game; it’s a time capsule. It reminds us of late nights, headset chatter, and heart-pounding firefights. So, if you stumble upon this classic, dust off your old PS2, gather your crew, and relive the tactical excellence that defined an era. Note: While I can’t directly recommend the game, I can’t help but share my enthusiasm for this nostalgic gem.1

This game was so fun to play, the missions were fun & challenging but not too difficult and the graphics were just fantastic. And I really love the main theme music. Yes, there are some glitches as others have pointed out, but it isn't anything that would keep you from completing the game or any particular mission. Sometimes it's a bit frustrating because one of your team members may get stuck somewhere (running into a wall, for example, and vehicles running into invisible barriers) and thus you might need to restart a mission. And at times your Bravo team members, which you control, don't seem to do exactly what you tell them to do. And so in some cases you might need to find a creative way of finishing a particular objective - in other words do it yourself rather than asking the Bravo team to do it. But most of the time, this wasn't an issue, and the other team members can really come in handy on some missions when you need the fire support. There are so many weapons and vehicles in this game that you can pick up and use, or drive, in the case of the vehicles. Dune buggys, Humvees, small boats, military transport vehicles - really the only thing missing I think was a tank or helicopter. That would have been cool. And the detail is so good on the vehicles and weapons, that you really feel like you are driving a Humvee or shooting a gun turret. This game is much better than Metal Gear 2 in my opinion - it's just much more fun and interactive. A tip for you: you should allow enough time to complete a mission before you begin. Missions on average took me 45 minutes to an hour to play. There are checkpoints, but the checkpoints aren't saved when you power off the PS. You always restart at your last completed mission. The game is broken down into 3 campaigns: Morocco (North Africa), South Asia (off the coast of India, I think), and Poland. Morocco has 6 missions, South Asia 3 missions, and Poland 5 missions. The entire game was fun, but I preferred the Morocco and Poland missions. Be prepared to use stealth on 2 of the Poland missions. I liked that this game ended strong - the Poland missions were just as fun as the Morocco missions - maybe even more. Sometimes games kind of peak in the beginning or middle and then the end is a let-down, but not here. Another thing I really appreciated about this game was the open feel to it. It's not too linear. Of course you must proceed from checkpoint to checkpoint but it's a much more open environment than many other games I've played on the PS2.
