A must-read for fans of REBELS.
There’s plenty of meat on the bones of this story by Greg Weisman, who gives us a very touching glimpse into the titular character’s past. We get a real sense for Kanan's relationship with Jedi master Depa Billaba, as well as his painful reckoning with the brutal end of the Jedi Order. Equally stunning is the brilliant artwork on display here by Pepe Larraz, whose fluid action and beautifully animated style fit the subject matter sublimely. If you are at all a fan of Star Wars REBELS and are looking for something more, you can stop looking; it’s right here.

Pretty good
I thoroughly enjoyed the Kanan story line and was really looking forward to this comic. They did a nice job with it I have already bought the next one in the series, They did a nice job filling in the gaps in Kanan's story line. My one complaint(?) would be the story felt a little rushed. I know they are trying to keep the momentum going but but there is such a thing as over doing it. I had to read it twice to pick up some of the plot points. But a good book all the same.

Kanan right after Order 66
Kanan is a new character to Rebels, but he was around during the Clone Wars. We've already had an origin story of him meeting Hera in A New Dawn, but this story goes back farther to the moment that ended the Clone Wars, Order 66. This is the first in-depth account of Order 66 in the new canon, other than the film. The relationship between Kanan and the clone troopers is very interesting. I'm very interested to see that relationship more if its origin is explored in Volume 2.This graphic novel reminded me of some of the Dark Times dark horse comics. It was cool to see the events that made Kanan the way he is. It was also very cool to see the Rebels crew drawn in a different style.I give this graphic novel a 5/5. I look forward to the next volume.

Good Addition for Rebels
I don't know if I'm just a sucker for stories from the prequel era since I grew up during the release of those movies, but I found Kanan to be a very good read. From the first issue of the comic the story pulled me right in with the great dialogue between Kanan, his Jedi Master, Depa Pillab, and the clone troopers. Right way you get the sense that Kanan is an incredibly curious mind and idolizes his master. He feels at peace when we first find him. But, of course, all of that changes drastically when order 66 is issued. The following story isn't super profound or groundbreaking to the Star Wars lore, but it is a fun adventure and a good addition for fans of Rebels. I'd say it's not a necessary read, but definitely a good one if you're looking for more Star Wars.

A Compelling Tale of Survival
What would you do if you were blacklisted witchhunt style? Of the many choices available in regards to new SW comics, I chose Kanan because I primarily wanted a new story with new characters I'm not familiar with. What I ultimately got in return for taking a chance on this book was a compelling story of one Jedi's struggle to evade and survive the purge of order 66 carried out by the clone troopers. Throughout the story, Kanan must learn to adapt to a world that has turned on his kind by transforming his identity in ways that mostly reject his Jedi teachings. If you want adventure, excitement, and a sense of danger at every turn, Kanan will serve you well.

Great artwork, good story line, but a bit pricey
I like this as a back story about Kanan, but it is only volume 1 of, I think they said a series of 12? @ $10.00 a pop, I rather go see a movie about Kanan, than spend $120.00 plus tax to get this entire series. I realize a lot of work goes into making a graphic novel, probably equal to or less than what it takes to incorporate special effects in a movie of this sort. So, if you got money to spend, are a Star Wars fan, and what to get the whole back story about Kanan, then I recommend buying this and the rest of the series. If you don't have the money to spend, get one of your "rich" friends to buy them and then just barrow them ;)

I Need More!!
I loved this!!! I need there to be a second one right this second! Now I'm not your typical star wars fan because if I'm being honest I prefer the prequel era to the original trilogy. I just find it more interesting I I think the Clone wars TV series is the best thing ever made under the star wars name. And I'm so happy that Disney isn't just ignoring this era like ibwas worried they would. This is great I love seeing kanan as a young Jedi I wished they showed a little more of him during the war itself but oh well I find the character fascinating and I didn't want to put the book down! It's fantastic.

A Good Read Even If You Don't Watch Rebels
I don't watch Rebels, but I read this book anyway....AND IT'S GOOD!I can only imagine that, for a fan of the show, this book is doubly good.It takes place right as Order 66 is given. Follow a padawan, Kanan, after his master is destroyed and the entire universe, it seems, is out to kill him. That can have an effect on ya, ya know? I don't care how strong you are in the Force. Kanan is young. No contacts. No allies. Only enemies and no where to run.Good stuff.
