My son enjoyed the story and it really gave him tools to work on when he feels frustrated. It helped me to know how to explain my boy to deal with his feelings.

Realistic, relatable, and provided a much needed success
This book really clicked with my five year old!! It helps that he frequently exclaimed "MY DAY IS RUINED" before I saw and purchased this book so he could immediately relate. The four steps are easy to remember and we have successfully diffused a couple of screaming fits using them together which was both surprising and amazing. For him to have a success quickly diffusing a fit is HUGE. He is five but having some teaching experience myself I could definitely see older kids being able to relate to this book too. Braden's math problem "solution" was hilariously realistic! Love it and will be purchasing more Braden books soon! (My only complaint is the condition the book arrived I because it was only sent in bubble wrap, but I certainly will not be deducting stars for that!)

It it probably better suited to 3rd and 4th graders
It was a little long for 2nd graders. Didn't keep their attention. It it probably better suited to 3rd and 4th graders.

Great tool
I read this story to my child clients in therapy. It teaches flexible thinking which is a great tool for coping with stress.

Useful
Overall this is a useful book and one that my kids have enjoyed with me. I do think it suffers from some over-specificity, where the character is a boy, is a boy who plays sports, is a boy who has a certain type of school experience... These are not bad things but I would have given this a full 5 stars if there was more open-ended, or if more culturally-inclusive experiences were used as examples where flexible thinking could apply - simply because it would have been more relevant to more people as such.

Teaching flexible thinking book for children
I bought this for a grandson thinking it would help some issues. I am extremely disappointed. This book was read by me in less than 10 minutes, it is THAT thin. Perhaps the message will get through when read by a child, but I guess my grandmother thinking is not ''FLEXIBLE'' enough to understand why this book cost $10.95. I'm afraid all the graphics in the world do not convince me of this price. Again, VERY disappointed and wish someone leaving a review would have forewarned me. BE FOREWARNED ...

Liked it, but extremely wordy for a picture book
Liked it, but extremely wordy for a picture book! Planned on using it for a lesson, but it was just too much for my third graders! Would be great for higher levels

A must for kids “stuck” in thinking negatively.
Bought this for my 9 year old son. We’ve been working through the scenarios, one at a time. The message is hitting home!
