I bought this book for my husband who is a keen agate collector for Christmas. The collection of agates in the book is wonderful and could really be a feast for the eye were it not let down by the photography. The beauty of these wondrous stones is lost in the pretentious and cluttered backgrounds as well as the very poor lighting of the photographs - such a pity.Having been a photography lecturer for ten years I would not have let my students present work of this standard for a finished project after the first year. What a wasted opportunity. As this is supposed to be a visual book illustrating an outstanding collection of agates, this purchase has been a complete disappointment.
