PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
First of all read my instructions below to avoid SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY TO YOU OR LOVED ONES Now, to the review. Here I go, starting right abouuut ...... NOW Well, they are definitely metal. Malleable, magnetic. Shiny. Flavorless. odorless. .. and stiff. They fall to the ground when dropped, which is very handy because if they did not, they would probably just float away, which would make it bloody difficult to keep them on a nightstand, and what, with the holes in the roof, one would be left clambering up furniture to get them before they slipped along into the toposphere. Their lack of initiative is a serious drawback. When placed in a collar, they stay stationary and point in the direction they were originally set to. No wiggling around like a bunch of newts in a sack, no siree Bob. These stays, well--stay. They are quiescent in the extreme, lacking in even the most rudimentary motor functions. Nor are they even mildly autonomous. I swear, they have absolutely no independent thought at all and deserve to be bossed around by others. But this could be a good thing; one doesn't want collar stays that pop around the corner to the 7-11 for a Big Gulp when one isn't watching them. no. that would be pretty annoying and embarassing, what with running down the street with your collars pointing out like the wings on some deranged aircraft. no, that would be, uh, bad. yeah. Nope, they go into the collar and, ah, um, just, well, you know, sit there. Seriously people, what am I supposed to say about freakling pieces of metal?! These follow up emails are so annoying. But I digress. You should definitely buy these particular stays instead of any other similar metal collar stays that cost the same (or more...or less) and that are in every respect exactly the same because, ah, um, these are just so darn super. BUT (and this is a big BUT) I recommend that you carefully follow these instructions to get the best results and AVOID SERIOUS INJURY: 1) open package carefully with a very sharp knife making absolutely certain not to run the sharp end over your body ( or that of anyone else for that matter...or over a rope holding someone dangling in the air 5 stories above the sidewalk. Been there--done that!) 2) remove lid making sure not to throw it in a rage at your dog, hitting him in the eye.(Yeah, I am talking to you Hugh!) 3) remove the collar stays with your fingers, pliers or toes choosing the correct length.(I can't emphasize this enough. So many times I have returned these products only to find out later that I was putting a 3 inch stay into a 1 inch collar. The are no instructions for this!!!!!! I mean come on people, how am I supposed to read your minds????) 4) put the stay in the collar pocket designed for the stay. If you have a collar that has other pockets designed for other things, put the stays in first in case they set off the things in the pockets designed for the types of things that can get set off (you know who you are, Hugh!). and this is really, truly key: 5) leave the stays in until you are done wearing the shirt. They don't work well if you put them in and then just take them out again. Apparently the rigidity and mass to not impart themselves to the properties of the shirt collar, but rather remain with the collar stay for its entire life, leaving behind nary a quark to keep your collar firm, pointy and down in their absence. 6) repeat for each shirt. Putting them in one shirt does not help the other shirts EVEN IF THE SHIRTS ARE IDENTICAL. It took me a while to figure THAT one out. And for the love of all that is holy, do NOT wear these in an MRI machine while holding an infant, real or imagined. Trust me on this one.

Good variety and quality of collar stays and nice storage box.
Quality collar stays, good variety, plenty of choices. I hardly use the longer stays, mainly the shorter ones. The storage box really came in handy,

Excellent, but a little narrow
These are great, but a little narrow, so if I'm adjusting my collar to put on a tie they sometimes slip out. Small complaint, but compared to all my other collar stiffeners they are half a mm narrower so I notice this.

Keeps a stiff collar, great price
I always lose these things so you get a bunch, varying sizes, at a solid price, they work well with the magnets I bought to go with them to keep the collar straight when I’m not wearing a tie

Inexpensive, quality, effective
I thought I had ruined a few dress shirts' collars and looked into ironing them and all sorts of other tips and tricks to have a clean and neat collar feel. I like to wear old dress shirts from the 80s and was saddened at the thought of them being rubbish. Fortunately for me I stumbled upon this product, which comes in a few different sizes! I found that very helpful because some collars already had sewn in pockets for the stays, but not all of those pockets were similarly sized. With these stays I'm able to find the ones that fit the right collar. This product was a life saver for me and saved me countless $$ from buying overpriced stays from other places that only give like 10 stays tops all in the same size, and from thinking I had to buy new dress shirts.

So good to have plenty of metal inserts of various sizes. Don't have to worry about them going through the watching machine or losing them.

One of the mysteries of life is how collar stiffeners either go missing or end up broken or sad, bent and twisted at the bottom of the washing machine. Part of the problem is that once upon a time all shirts had bones, as we used to call them, so it was second nature to remove them for washing. These days they are not as common as many shirts have button down collars, soft collars or built in stiffeners, so the habit has been lost. These stainless stiffeners come in four sizes so should cover pretty well any shirt. Stiffeners are stiffeners so are hardly any different to plastic in use, and, so far, the novelty has meant they have been removed for washing. That will pass though and no doubt in a short while they will end up in a shirt in the washing machine. They seem tough enough and strong enough to survive unscathed and are large enough to avoid slipping through the drum yet small enough to avoid causing any damage – much the same as a loose coin I would imagine. The rounded edges should greatly reduce the chances of damage to the collar if they don’t slip out during the wash and being stainless they won’t rust or leave stains so, hopefully, there will be no harm done. The box is handy to keep them in, at least you should know where the stiffeners are, and it is perhaps telling that there are five pairs of each size which I suspect is not so much on the basis buyers will have 20 shirts, but more that even in indestructible steel, shirt stiffeners will still go missing.

The various sizes help as some of my collars are smaller than others. The quality of the metal is quite good, without any sharp edges that would potentially damaged the fabric. They are ferrous as well (attracted to magnets) which allows you to use small magnets to get a button down look. The case is nice to keep the all together, and have a place to put them when the shirts are being washed. Definitely more than enough for are provided.
