100: Season 2

This show is insanely good. It's quite engrossing
This show is insanely good. It's quite engrossing, fairly hard, post-apocalyptic science fiction, but it's the character development and story arcs that will blow your mind. This is on par (though with a much smaller catalog of episodes) with the latest Battlestar Galactica incarnation for it's turn-the-show-on-a-dime and OMG-I-can't-believe-that-just-happened moments. The actors are all killing it, and the writers across both the first and the second season have not failed to keep things tense, believable and yet still surprising and completely entertaining. This is the best show of the past 2 seasons of network television (well, if we can count the CW) that you are probably not watching (but it annihilates pretty much anything any on those major nets--Blacklist is the only thing close to the quality and intensity). Plus, the production values are pretty gorgeous (it's worth seeing on Blu Ray). Also, most of the cast is pretty easy on the eyes--but don't let the casting of these beautiful people on this show fool you; most of these characters will make your jaw drop at some point, and it won't be because of their pretty faces. This show is not light fare; it is as serious as a heart attack from start to finish (no dopey levity inserted anywhere like you might find on other genre shows). Best sci fi show currently in production--and probably belongs in the top 3 of my all-time favorite dramatic sci fi television shows. Buy this and Season 1 together if you haven't seen any of it yet. The first season is like 13 episodes and this, the second season, is 16 episodes--so, they are not long seasons, but the sci fi drama and action packed into both of these seasons makes most other shows vying for your entertainment dollar pale by comparison no matter how many more episodes they filled out their seasons with.

Season 2 was even better...
I enjoyed the first season of "The 100" because I thought it brought interesting characters and intriguing stories to the screen.Season 2 is, in my opinion, even better. The conflicts are more character based than event based, a plus in my book; the actors - those that survived the first season - seemed more comfortable in their roles; and there was less reliance on special effects. The writing, which I thought was very good in the first season, went up a notch in this second season due primarily, I think, to the fact that the situations were more "real." In this season the castaways and - later - the entire population of The Ark were forced to deal with a plethora of issues ranging from distrust of "the others," maneuvering for control of the group, the need for alliances with former enemies, betrayals, and the eternal conflicts that arise when young people and their elders have to come to a mutual decision for the good of all. Not everyone handled their new situations well; some went completely off the rails while others made difficult choices based more on emotion than on reason. This season's episodes have been reviewed countless times already so I won't add much more to the pot except to say that I thought Eliza Taylor as Clarke Griffin; Paige Turco as her mother Abigail; and Thomas McDonnell as Finn Collins were outstanding in their roles. McDonnell was especially good, I thought, as his character's personality frayed to the point that he became violent and unpredictable during the season. It was a treat to watch a young actor handle this difficult role with such finesse.

Not your typical CW show
If you enjoyed season 2 of the 100, the blu-ray is worth it. Don't you want to see Lexa in HD? ;)If you're just curious about the show in general and you like darker, moralistic sci-fi like Battlestar Galactica, this is definitely worth checking out, too. Even if you weren't wild about season 1 and only watched a few episodes, the end of season 1 and the totality of season 2 are probably the best science fiction on the air today.Don't look at it as a teeny-bopper CW show. It most certainly is not. The main character is responsible for upwards of 900 deaths by the end of the second season and yet the show avoids gratuitous violence. Yes, there's blood and there are fights, but every choice is a moral conundrum. Are my people better or more worthy than your people? Can my people survive if yours live? How can you answer these questions and remain a 'good guy'? There are no easy deux ex machina, saves the day at the last minute stories here. People die. People suffer. And they struggle to understand the difference between just surviving and actually living.

Much better than first season!
The writers and producers of The 100 were obviously influenced by the TV series LOST. Initially their attempts to emulate a few of that programs plot structures and production styles often delivered formulaic, rushed, and cringe worthy results. In season one shock value, senseless violence and plot twists (with very little impact) were chosen over character development. I almost gave up on The 100. But.... I'm glad I didn't.The introduction of "The Mountain People" along with the Mount Weather subplot, bringing the rest of the inhabitants of the Ark to the ground, and further development of "The Reapers" and "The Grounders" allowed the writers more space to fill with character development. There's still a fair amount of over the top, unbelievable plot points in season two, but the momentum is shifted toward character depth and plot density. Suddenly, I found myself actually caring about the characters and becoming interested in the post apocalyptic landscape. If you were put off by poor quality writing (and acting) in season one, stay the course and don't give up. Season two is a fresh start and a much more enjoyable viewing experience.JM

Code-free Blu Ray!!!

I'm In Love with This Show
An awesome post-apocalyptic, thriller, quality drama tv series. I suggest that you buy and watch Season 1 first before watching this one.The 100 Season 2 is a absolute perfection and I must say that I liked it even more than the previous season. It's full of surprises and highly unpredictable.I think it will be even better if they released it in Blu-ray format too and not just in DVD.
