PRO HAND HELD PLASTIC SAND SCOOP #450

Item is surprisingly sturdy and easy to carry. My only complaint is that the holes are too big, and I had a hard time finding smaller items like earrings .

This scooper works fine for targets near the surface or in damp/moist sand conditions. When I used it on deep targets in dry sand it couldn't scoop the sand out of the digging site. The 5/8" holes allows everything to pass through, back into the hole you are trying to dig. My interim solution was to turn it around and drag sand towards me until I thought I had reached the target depth. I then had to again locate the target because sometimes the target would be excavated to the side. My final solution was to buy a plastic feed scoop from Amazon and drill some 3/8" holes.

It's not as good as the metal ones, but for a quick buy it has done me well. The holes are small enough to catch coins, but smaller things like earrings and sometimes nails can fall through. Nevertheless, I use it every time I metal detect, and I'm pleased. If you're just starting out metal detecting, then I would highly recommend. If you are anything above a beginner, get a metal one.

I was worried that the scooper wouldn't work so well because it was plastic instead of metal, but I was wrong. It is great and gets the job done. By being plastic it is lighter, and I don't have to ever worry about rusting. The only thing is in the design, sometimes it squeezes my skin in one little corner when I am trying to shake it and at the same time grip the handle tightly.

Hard to review a plastic scoop....but...it's the right size, it has enough holes to shake the sand out quickly, it's pretty beefy. It's a little PRICEY though...but they're all like that. I drilled a hole in mine so I could put a tether on it....Some brands have that all readyIt works and it's made well...and I do like using it

I have found many coins, while using this. I have had alot of people that I meet at the beach ask me where I got this scoop. I like the plastic , so that I can run my detector over it to see if I have the item in the scoop, or missed in the hole.

I got this along with a good metal detector in hopes of whiling away some time on the beach. It worked well and was great in the fine sand of the Cayman Islands.Unfortunately, we didn't find anything valuable (but we did save some ppl from stepping on a rusty nail!), but it's not the scoop's fault!It didn't really take up space in the luggage either since it can be filled up with small clothes like socks, etc.
