Sport Utility Kayak
Well built, stable enough, few issues here and there.Issues:1 - It's got two seating options. The elevated seats or on the deck. If you sit on the deck there's no back support and it's uncomfortable BUT the storage wells are easy to access. If you put the seats in the rear compartment is unaccessible unless you get off the seat and lift it up.2 - The tie down points along the deck are a little flimsy. Not really knockable because they are for holding a kayak to a dock or bungee a bag down, but don't expect to use them to secure the kayak to your vehicle. The carry handles are much stronger.3 - The paddle restraints are just bungie cord. They wear out pretty quick.4 - Balance your load. Heaviest rider NEEDS to be in the back. I'm 200lbs and my brother-in-law is 170ish. When he sat in the back the thing just wanted to swing around me. Me in the back and it tracked fine. Keep that in mind if you want to take a girl you like out on it. You're gonna need to know her weight if she's even remotely close to you. Might be a deal breaker. Why, you ask, do I think it's still 5 star worthy? This kayak works well as a platform. You don't like it, upgrade it. Accessorize it. One summer and I mounted a fish finder, ran cabling for a battery and transducer. Looking at putting on clip-in style paddle holders, a rudder (improve the tracking), better mounting solution for the fish finder, cell phone holder for GPS, wind sail, and maybe a trolling motor (motor up rivers, float and fish on the way back) and an anchor.I've used it for fishing, for snorkling, and just cruising around some lakes and sloughs. It's nice and stable, not that I've tried really hard but I haven't flipped it. I don't worry about my phone or fish finder as of now and I ALMOST feel comfortable enough on it to take my rather expensive DSLR with me and not worry about losing it in the drink.
