Best of all I've tried
This is my favorite sunscreen. It works at least as good/if not better as any others I've tried, nice orange-like scent, not oily, not excessively thick, effectiveness is immediate. - added bonus the company uses biodegradable packing noodles (dissolve under water) and ships quickly for reasonable cost. I live in Hawaii and paid less than $5 to ship three tubes of it. It got here in less than a week. In my search to find the best "healthy" sunscreen I have tried several and will summarize them in case anyone else is shopping around for the perfect sunscreen/sun protection. I have learned a lot thru trial and error and will share that in the case that it may help save others the "error" part. The rest of this review is mostly about sunscreen in general or for those looking for extra info. Sunscreens I've tried: Badger - works ok but very oily, has to be applied 30 min prior to exposure Loving Naturals - works ok but VERY VERY oily, also has to be applied 30 mins prior. This is especially a problem if you apply it to children 30 min before leaving the house. I don't want my kids running around the house leaving oily sunscreen residue all over the furniture, etc. CA Baby - the is my 2nd favorite sunscreen. It works pretty good and is not oily like the above mentioned. However, it too needs to be applied 30 min prior. It is fairly thick and takes some effort to rub in, however I personally don't mind this. On the up side, sometimes you can find this locally (Target usually carries it in the summertime). Coppertone Water Babies Pure and Simple - this works ok, my biggest gripe about this is that (unlike the above mentioned) this sunscreen rates a "3/moderate health risk" with the EWG. No point in taking a larger risk than you need to. This sunscreen also seems to irritate one of my children's skin. The only reason I would buy this is if I was in a pinch and had to buy something from a local store and this was the best they had. Out of all the sunscreens I've mentioned this one is the easiest to find in stores. Here is the EWG's website for more info on their ratings... [...] Furthermore, it is critical that you follow the directions and apply the sunscreen up to 30 min in advance if stated. I have found lesser effectiveness when I have tried cutting corners to get outside sooner. Your skin needs to stay cool during this time or you will just sweat it off. Reapplication is also critical, and I have found that even with drying off and spending some time in the shade to allow the second coat to soak in it still doesn't work as good as the first application. We live in Hawaii where the sun is strong year round. I have found that one of the best things I can do to protect my young children is to keep them indoors or in the shade during the hottest part of the day. In addition to that my children always wear rash guards at the pool/beach, and I don't allow them to wear sleeveless shirts/dresses on days when they will be outside much. I like Coolibar" clothing for infants. Keep in mind that infants should be kept in the shade when possible and even then it is possible for them to get some sun on their delicate skin. I keep my 9 month old at home when I can, but when we go out to the pool/beach as a family I put her in protective clothing and apply sunscreen to her face and feet even when she is in the shade (she puts her hands in her mouth so much I usually don't do her hands). In short, Sunny Days is the best sunscreen I've tried and I use it all the time. However, sunscreen should not be your only line of defense. Clothing, shade and a little common sense should also come into play. Hope this helps someone ~ Aloha

Great eczema sunscreen
This eczema sunscreen is the BEST!! We tried regular sunscreen on my daughter and her skin broke out immediately. This sunscreen didn’t irritate her skin at all!! It is super thick and white and you have to thoroughly rub it on/apply it… but that’s ok because it’s worth every penny.

Stands up DC Heat and Humidity
This is one of the first sunblocks (natural or other) that hasn't irritated my skin. Typically, most sunblocks cause me to break out in a rash after being in the sun for only a short amount of time. The rash takes days to go away, and quite frankly, it gets tiring managing it. After much research, I decided to give TruKid a whirl, and I'm thrilled with the results! I'm a 33-year-old female with sensitive skin and I will burn in 30 minutes without sunblock (otherwise, I tan pretty well using sunblock). The Sunny Days Daily SPF 30 held up well during a brisk 30-minute walk with my dog in the D.C. heat and humidity. No burns at all. I went for a run later in the day and didn't burn during that either. This product smells nice...sort of a light citrus. It rubs in relatively clear (it will get stuck in arm hairs, so just take a few extra minutes to rub in). I found that after application, a few minutes later the "white film" typically experienced with zinc products went away completely. This product keeps your skin moisturized too, though I did experience a slight tackiness to my skin, but that could have been from the humidity. It washes off clean without scrubbing. I'm a fan! Thanks TruKid!

Finally, a Natural, Chemical-Free Sunscreen for the Hippie in All of Us
After years of my wife’s experimenting, tinkering, and general money-wasting on all sorts of natural and mineral-based sunscreen options, the search is over. TruKid just can't be beat. Unlike other natural sun-blocking brands, TruKid isn't overly oily or thick, and it doesn't leave a visible or greasy film that is all but impossible to rub in. You still have to put in some effort to get it rubbed in completely, especially on squirmy kids, but it's a far cry from the infernal pastes we've tried in the past. And, the scent is pleasant, like a gently breeze through an orange grove on a warm summer night; not overly perfumed or noxious. Plus, it's perfect for the gluten-free lifestyle (please, don't eat it)! As for protection, it seems to work well on tikes and adults alike. Whether you’re hopping in and out of the pool, sweating like a pig at a hula party, or just lounging around to catch some rays, you’ll be safe from the sun. Just be sure to reapply before you have that fifth margarita and pass out on the deck for a few hours. You may balk at the price, especially compared to mainstream and chemical-laden brands, but it’s not hateful for natural varieties. The tube is also a little larger than Badger brand, and it seems to last longer as it’s easier to spread. So, if you’re like me, and you’re trying to do a good thing by only slathering the best, most natural stuff on your kid’s skin, but you’re tired of wasting time and money (and applying lotion that goes on more like car wax), give TruKid a shot.

I like it and will keep buying it.
I've bought this brand multiple times and like it. I play pickleball in the sun a lot. It goes on best after I put some moisturizer on my skin first. I'm happy with the protection and the EWG review of it makes it a solid choice.

Best in the market, I've tried various other sunscreens for my Son, they all disappoint, either too greasy or make you look like a ghost, this product does neither.

I searched for a long time for a sun cream that didn’t irritate my son’s eczema and finally I’ve found it! A little pricey for the quantity but well worth it.

a bit thick for my skin but good protection

My son cannot wear normal sun cream as it brings up his eczema on one application... this cream is perfect as it doesn't irritate his eczema at all and protects him from the sun perfecto! Very happy 😊

I have no clue if this works cos my daughter haven't stayed outdoor in the sun for more then 5 hours. She's got a bit color, I assume it's normal though. The only reason I give it a one star is because the product arrived with the aluminum seal loose, the cream came out in the lid. I used it because there is expire date on the tube, and it's months away, otherwise would throw it away or return it. Still, I think the product should have arrived well sealed in case of contamination.
