Great cookbook
Ordered ahead of my bypass surgery. Have tried a few of the recipes. Love that it’s measured out so that I can cook for my family too. Great ingredients that can be used for multiple recipes

My Favorite Cookbook
I have several cookbooks for bariatric meals - this is by far my favorite. Easiest to use, simple recipes that can be prepared quickly. Good variety of recipes. Everything I've had from this book tastes great.I have a couple of concerns:I'm sometimes suspect of the calorie and macro counts for each recipe. And I sometimes feel like the portion size recommendations are out of whack. Not enough to make me stop using it though. The meals are often too large, and out of proportion to the recommended serving size - that's good and bad. It means I usually refrigerate for another night, but that can lead to boredom. I usually try to cut everything in half if I don't want leftovers.Still, even with my concerns, its worthy of my 5 star rating.

Good but have to adjust every recipe
So I have been searching for bariatric cookbook and bought this on recommendation. It is def better than the first option I bought.. My biggest complaint is the serving sizes. For instance, in the section on smoothies most if not all of them are 2 servings. I am one person and spouse is vegan so most protein smoothies contain dairy so cant make a full batch and share it. Leftover smoothie is bad so have to cut in 1/2.. Biggest complain/concern on the rest of the options are again the serving size vs # of servings. For instance when recipe calls for 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of some other liquid that is 2 cups of liquid not counting anything else. If a stage for serving is 1/4 cup how is the whole recipe 4 servings? 2 cups of liquid slip into 1/4 cup increments is 8 total servicing.. So you have to take that into account when looking at the dietary content "per serving" or calories and proteins. Maybe I am misunderstanding something but this is what I see as the challenge of the book.

Excellent recipe book
I read some of the negative reviews about the book. I really can’t understand the 1 star review as the book clearly provides recipes for all the phases after bariatric surgery. It seems like the person, who left that review, has clearly not read the book properly.I had gastric sleeve surgery in January, so I know exactly how limited your food options are for the first two weeks’ liquid diet phase. Even the second phase, which is limited to puréed foods only.Basically, you can have broth and protein shakes, plus water in the first phase and in the second phase you have to purée everything. Anything else might damage the staples / stitches, or get stuck in them, which can cause a serious infection. Therefore, I honestly don’t know what that person expected from the book- a 3-course meal option for phase 1 after surgery?I’ve attached a photo of page 17 from the book, where the author explains the book’s recipes. She clearly labeled each recipe with the numbers of the phase that it would be suitable for and also SAFE to consume. The variety of foods, that she used, is really great. There are honestly some really yummy looking, very simple recipes with easy instructions, that even someone like me can follow. There are a total of 139 recipes in this book. Even the names of some of these spark joy for me and whet my appetite. The different chapters are:- Smoothies and other post-op foods- Breakfast- Sides and vegetables- Vegetarian mains- Poultry mains- Seafood mains- Beef and Pork Mains- Drinks, sweets and treats- Dressings, sauces, and seasoningsThere was another reviewer, who mentioned what a picky eater her husband is. She has clearly not met mine yet!! And, to that person I would like to say that nothing is set in stone, if your husband doesn’t eat for example eggs, leave it out of the recipe. Or if he doesn’t like artichokes, replace it with something that he actually eats. And someone else mentioned in their review that this cookbook is for after surgery ... yes, that’s the point of this cookbook - that’s why it is called ‘The Easy 5-ingredient BARIATRIC cookbook’!The only initial con I had about the book was that it has so few photos inside. But, to be honest, it actually makes the recipes stand out better. Very clear, concise and neat. I now understand why the publisher chose so few photos.

Easy, clever, and delicious!
I am just about three years out from my bariatric surgery and this cookbook is a breath of fresh air. It can get monotonous to find recipes that are both tasty and size appropriate for this life style. This cookbook is full of new ideas for the foods we regularly purchase. This great cookbook gives new life to my menu, which was really needed. I also purchased this cookbook for my sister who will be having her bariatric surgery in August. I know it will serve as a great guide when she can transition to solid foods. I love how this cookbook has staged the appropriate introduction of foods, this is very helpful. This great cookbook will definitely stand tall on my kitchen counter, always ready for another yummy meal.
