A 4 1/2 star suspense read
The Fraternity of the Stone Mortalis, Book 2, my first read from author David Morrell, an author I'd wanted to read for years, in fact, I've gotten a half-dozen of his books on my TBR list..All I'd anticipated and more. Think Robert Ludlum, Steve Berry & James Rollins. Outstandingsuspense. 10-hours 24-minute/482-pages. I'm voluntarily reading & reviewing it because every book needs reviews. The narration cast of performers: George Ralph (narrator), Jean Reed Bahle, Christy L. Beatty, Paul Dreher, II, Dale Hull, Jonathon Hull, Brian K. Johnson, Len Kopka, Gladys Long, Michael Page, and Lowell George Seibel's outstanding narration adds to the book's enjoyment. I look forward to reading more from this author. Still very good
I read this book and the others in the trilogy many years ago when they were first published. I enjoyed them then and did again. The plot is original, considering its first publishing date, and keeps the reader glued to the book throughout. Andrew MacLane is an interesting and complex hero, the bad guys are not always obvious and dealing with secret societies inside the Catholic Church all make for a great story. If you like thrillers with a dashes of medieval history, espionage, conspiracy, religious zealots and murder you will enjoy this book.

The League of Night and Fog were some of the best intrigue and adventure books that I have ever read
This book with the other two books of Morrell trilogy The Brotherhood of the Rose, The Fraternity of the Stone, The League of Night and Fog were some of the best intrigue and adventure books that I have ever read. They are better than Ludlum and the others. They are the best books ever written by Morrell. I have read all but a few of Morrell's books. I think the Fraternity of the Stone is the best of the three but I would read them in order.

I would not want to be Drew
I read these stories out of order.Fraternity of the Stone is the weakest of the three books. Drew is a monk who used to be a covert operative for the State Dept. His monastary is destroyed but he survives and he embarks out to find out why?The plot takes many elements from the Brotherhood of the Rose. But Drew and Arlene are not fleshed out the way Saul and Erika were, so you can't invest in the,

Great Thriller and Action Book!!
This is one of David Morrells great books. It is fast paced with lots of action and interesting storyline and fascinating characters. If you read this one you need to read "The Brotherhood of the Rose as they complement one another. I have read a lot of this author's books through the years but I prefer his earlier works. Once I start one of his books I can not quit reading. This author either has a lot of experience or he has done quite a bit of research. He has an interesting way of mixing elite forces training with some religious overtones. I can not say enough great things about Morrell and his works. He is a very talented author.

Day of the super hero
I'm sure if you are young enough you will really like this novel. Regrettably I am not. If you are a fan of super dudes who come equipped with every kind of talent for every kind of situation who can overcome every kind of obstacle then this is your book. Also to enjoy this book you will need to be a believer in the wildest kind of conspiracy theories. Let me just say that if you believe in either angles, devils, zombies, vampires or even ninjas this is your book

Thriller for sure
The word “thriller” can be easily overused but it’s almost an understatement here. Morrell is *the* master. I read this in early hardback and it continues to rate 5 stars all these years later.

BETTER THAN--- DA VINCI CODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this book was written a few years back, its about the opus deithe catholic intelligence org. its the best fiction book of its kind ever written.its a real thriller, that begins in a monastery and becomes a chase book like no other ever written.the story ,the characters, the pace of the book is non stop.morrell, has written a book that far out paces the da vinci code.both are about a secert org.that no one knows about.in and out of the catholic church.but that where the secert ends.this book is so much better in every way than the da vincicode, that you want be able to wait to tell your friends to buythis one !! the fraternity of the stone.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good value for a second hand book.
Bought as a present for father, as he loves reading books by this author. He was very pleased with his gift.

Not his best work.
Not a riveting read. Too much time spent trying to analyse the physical and mental thought pattern and skills of a trained killer. Became almost repetitive.Couldn't wait to finish the book, to move on.

A great book ruined by errors
I own the paperback of this great book and so it was natural to buy a 'proper' copy of the ebook for the Kindle only to find 9 errors before I am even half way through, that were not in the original book. I don't know how Amazon creates ebooks e.g. by scanning etc, but this copy didn't impress one bit. And guess what, no returns on ebooks! I feel pretty conned to be honest, and not what I expect from Amazon.

Rolicking read
Feeling a little aged in its reading the characters are well defined and action believable. A nice link in the trilogy story line.
