I really like this new series by Laura Wright. I originally found Ms. Wright though email advertisement. Since I don't read Paranormal Romance Books, with most of them about Shape Shifters of Vampires, Werewolf’s and etc, so I almost passed her by. She did have one "free" book that I decided to at least read part of the story. The Series was Bayou Heat. I read the book and loved the story and ended up buying all of the series that have been published to-date. I really liked her writing style, with each character and supporting cast having a lot of depth.This series is no different regarding her characters and supporting cast. Since Ms. Wright knows how to really write books about Alpha Males, you will love the Cavanaugh brothers. The first installment is Branded and about the eldest Cavanaugh, Deacon (Deac). We find out that the three brothers left home about 10 or so years ago from the family Triple C Ranch after their Sister was murdered. With each Brother making their Millions or Billions, they never came back, UNTILL their Father passed away. We find out that the ranch supports the small town of River Black, Texas with the Ranch being 100,000 acres of land and 40,000 head of cattle.After the funeral the Will is read and they find out that they have a 1/2 brother, Blue, that they did not even know existed. Apparently their father had an affair while still married and after his wife died, the mother of this son was living in the Farmhouse with the son as the father;s housekeeper. Even Blue did not know that Mr. Cavanaugh was his father until the reading of the Will. Deacon is concerened that this could effect his plans to destory the Ranch, so he must now buy out Blue's share. But, will Blue want to sell since this has been his home and he has worked this Ranch for 10 years.Deacon meets up with Mackenzie Byrd after the funeral. Mackenzie was the Brothers Sister's best friend and was about 14 when the brothers left home. Mackenzie had a mad crush on Deacon back then and it appears that the Sparks have turned from teenage crush to an adult frenzy. With each passing day, their attraction to each other grows until they must have each other. There was some really Hot, Hot, Passion going on that will have you wanting to take your own cold shower.Deacon swore to never love or marry because of what happened to him after the death of his sister at the hand of his mother and father. We find out, sadly, why the book is called Branded while Deacon must feel the scares every day of his life, becuse his mother branded him on his shoulder and blamed him for Cass' (sister) death..Mackenzie does not believe she can have Deacon's whole heart when he is set on revenge and wants to tear the entire Ranch down so that he will be free from his demons once and for all. However, it is not that simple. Mackenzie is the Forman (Forewomen) of the Ranch and Deacon wants to destroy the home that she loves. Mackenzie decides to walk away because she knows she cannot have Deacons whole heart and he will not let go of the past and move forward.The story line is great, unique and includes the Alpha Male, but also the strong, intelligent and gifted women that is truly worth Deacon to fight for. Don't miss this series by Laura Wright.

Went into this book from this author not really knowing what to expect since I have only read her paranormal genre novels. Starts off with a entry from a 13 year old girls diary than next you are catapulted to what is going on now. What a way to rope a reader in right away. So since I have read a few cowboy romances I want them easy riding but hard and fast. She introduces us to Deacon first the tuff steal tycoon bent on a path that he has been gearing up for a few years but with a wrench now thrown into the path it hasn't thrown him one bit. Next you find yourself at the ranch that this book will be centered around with a now grown up Mackenzie aka Mac being the ranch foreman dealing with a dirty issue before a funeral. The Cavanaugh head was dead and the hopefully all the brothers on their way back but she was prepared for anything. This novel will be just as I looked for in one such as this riding the reader hard and fast with the story giving you everything it has got with a touch more. Secrets and destruction are the main menu for the characters to have to deal with. Hate a large emotion that these brothers have going on but the ranch will affect each of them different since the loss of the sister that was a devastating beginning of changed lives for all. Love will be the healing emotion here with the war of wills between two equally strong characters Deacon and Mac. They will be like to halves of a whole that will give you the most thrilling ride of all experiencing their relationship as it grows. His brothers will also be in and out of this story that will give it that umph needed. So loved enjoying this man of steel get knocked off his high horse by this woman that can ride with the best of them. All the while though you are wondering what really happened that the brothers keep eluding to and what happened to the sister that fateful day. Some of these questions will be answered but some will keep you hanging on until it is time for that part to be told. The lovin' is hot and heavy while Deacon proves my point why I love cowboys they know had to ride. Off and on the diary entries keep popping in which is a key to this story also. Great intriguing romance that will leave you trembling when finished.

Brilliant book well worth 5 stars would have given it more if I could, this is the first book in the series and if this is anything to go by wow what a series this is going to be. I love Laura,s books and the way she draws you into a story I couldn't honestly put this book down.Their father has died and the Cavanaugh brothers must return to the Triple C a ranch where they all grew up but also fled after their young sister Cass was murdered. The eldest brother Deacon a wealthy business man in his own right wants nothing to do with the Triple C and in fact would rather see in flattened to the ground, Mackenzie Byrd is forewoman of the Triple C ranch she was also cassie's best friend, Mac had a huge crush on Deacon as they were growing up and has discovered since seeing him again she might not have gotten over him as much as she thought, but Mac has declared she will fight Deacon all the way before she allows him to destroy what she and the community have helped to build. The brothers also discover the father they thought they knew was unfaithful to their Mother and they have a brother none of them knew existed. This story is mainly around Deacon and Mac and their trials and tribulations on their journey as they discover there is more between them than their sheer determination to see who will come out on top. If you love an awe inspiring contemporary romance with smoking hot Cowboys thrown in then look no further go buy this book NOW!

Loved this first book in a new series from Laura, it was fraught with emotion and I was hooked from start to end. I was all tense by the end and desperate for more! I can't wait to get to know the rest of the brothers better and I am dying to get to the bottom of the mystery!

Great start to a new series. A most enjoyable read. Well developed plot, plenty of good strong characters, should have the makings of plenty more books to add to the series.

Amazing book! I can't wait for the next one! Laura Wright is an awesome author and her books are faultless! One of my favourite authors!

Really good series and I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
