My local store stop selling the Shanggie Pho spice mix and my daughter and I were devastated. In my opinion this is the closest you will find without sitting in a Vietnamese restaurant and I’ve tried at least 10.

Beef Pho Soup Base
This is a good mix of the spices you need to start your Pho broth and has been the best tasting one I have found so far. The trick is to start off with a good base. I boil water with a beef soup bone, half an onion, and a whole carrot. Boil and then simmer for 30 minutes then I add this packet at the end. Serve with meatballs from the Asian market, rice noodles, fresh cilantro and lime. It is high in sodium so just be mindful of that. This is the best packet I have found in stores or online and it has a good balance of star anise too.

ALMOST as good as a good Pho restaurant
ALMOST as good as a good Pho restaurant. I'd recommend as a Pho supplement for when you have a craving and there's no good restaurant around.

Quick and easy soup base
This is perfect for a quick bowl of soup, complex spices and aroma, delicious and quick. Wonder if they have a chicken version? I’m hooked.
