A must if you have volumes 1 & 2
Absolutely should have done this years ago. I started volume 1 back in 1989, got to vol 2, my teacher moved me on to a jazz guy who didn't use this method. I've finally just decided to do it. This is the logical conclusion to the foundation developed in volumes 1 & 2. This is the "rest of the story".

In my opinion the BEST guitar method ever published
Bought this book as a gift for my husband and he says: This is the 3rd Volume in what is probably the best guitar method ever published by Berklee Press. The focus of the book is to teach the student to read music however, I recommend it to anyone that is interested in learning to play guitar.

Excellent series!
Nothing more to say. Great for any modern guitarist who wants to be an educated, modern guitarist. Knowledge will expand your capability no matter who you are or what you play.

Finally I think I've found the one I've been searching for.
I've been scouring Kindle books and elsewhere for a really good scale and arpeggios book for guitar and this one sure looks like it is the best of breed. I just got it so time will tell but it reads well as a Kindle book which is not that common with Kindle music books and is just a vast comprehensive book, like the mother of all guitar scale and arpeggio books with more beyond just those subjects and not just page after page of fingering diagrams. Now a word of warning - no tab here. But I want to ween myself from dependency on tab and learn to sight read better and thus better learn the guitar fretboard, i.e, where every note is so that I'm not just playing by fingering shapes. But while it has no tab it does give fingering hints which should suffice so long as you can read music already and want to improve your ability to translate it to the guitar fretboard. Also it is not only using CAGED fingerings so you have to be ready to break out of the CAGED system but I think I'm ready for that too. It doesn't seem anti-CAGED by any means. But it provides several fingerings for all the scales that it covers which I *think* will often include at least one CAGED pattern as a subset. I just played through some 4 note arpeggio studies in F and so far I'm really liking the fingerings.

One of the key definitive guitar method books...
Leavitt knows his stuff, great sight-reading material for intermediate/advanced students. The pieces are really well written. I felt one or two of the fingering exercises were a little pedantic but not really a criticism. Books 1 and 2 are needed first,

Leavitt è il Leavitt
Consigliato fare bene i primi due, qui si va avanti sulla stessa strada

Advanced guitar
This is the 3rd in the series used at the Berkeley School. Not for the faint of heart. There are no tabs, so you need to know how to read music in order to get anything out of it. That said, it's the most comprehensive course.
