Hands down, the best pastry mat I have ever used.
I purchased this mat a couple months back, in time for the holiday baking season. I have tried several other pastry mats in the past but have the same problem as most. If you bind it so that it stays rolled up it is nearly impossible to get it to lie flat again causing great frustration when trying to roll out your dough. I have spent more than I care to admit on pastry mats and if I did find one I liked it inevitably did not last very long and required replacement well before what I thought would be it's lifespan. Due to the reviews I read on this item I decided to give it a try. Holiday baking gave it a real work out and I can honestly say I think I have found the product I've been looking for. This mat unrolled easily and immediately laid flat. The second big "plus" was the fact that the mat stayed put on the table while rolling out dough (nothing like chasing your mat around the table/counter top as you try to roll out a pie crust). As previously stated by others, nothing sticks to this mat. It is truly amazing. I was dreading making cut-out cookies as they always stick to the surface I'm working on. Not so with this mat. Cookie cutters were used on the mat but I only used enough pressure to cut through the dough. I place all my cutters on the dough before I start to cut so I can arrange them for the best use of space. I lightly pressed them into the dough and then gently peeled the dough away from the outside of the cutter. As I said, nothing sticks. I was then able to remove the cutters/cookies easily and place them on the baking sheet without doing any harm or leaving any marks on the mat. The mat wipes clean easily and is a dream to re-roll and store. I bake a great deal and after almost 40 years of fighting with pastry mats I think I have found my "soul mate". A very worthwhile and time/frustration saving investment.

Well made, good value
I read a lot of reviews for various rolling mats before purchasing this one. It is heavier than others I've seen, which means it doesn't bunch up when you're rolling out stiff dough. An interesting side effect of that feature is that once it's rolled up, it can go in the drawer just like that: it won't unroll. The various measurements are helpful: temperature and weight conversions, guides for the different diameters needed for pies versus tarts, etc. There's even a care section for the mat, so you don't have to go searching for instructions. I found one tiny error: in the pie dough recipe printed on the top left of the mat, the third ingredient listed is just "1/4 tsp" because the word "salt" didn't print. Not a big deal.Overall, this is an excellent choice. I'm glad I purchased it. I've bought the cheap kind of silicone before, and it's like throwing money away. This is inexpensively priced but high quality, which is the best possible combo.

Kneading & Rolling With Ease!
It had been a very long journey trying to find a non-stick pastry mat that delivers as promised.Thanks to this wonderful product it has made working with my pie crust dough a pleasure able task. I purchased this pastry mat to make 24 apple pies for National Pie Day this year. I love making pies and have a lovely pie crust recipe. However, I was losing precious dough to the counter...over flouring my dough to make my surfaces non-stick...and/or using subpar pastry mats that were much worse than using a countertop - I stop making pies because of this extra labor. I was not sure what to expect from this product but I had some large baking requests to fullfill so I decided to give this product a try. I loved the extra large size of this baking mat. I could easily roll out the dough to a 16inch diameter with ease. This mat was unique in that it had the diameter and metric measurements and rulings in the middle and outer perimeter of the mat - I can't wait to make cinnamon rolls now! I do not have to use a baking tape measure because the measurements I need are right there! Transferring the rolled dough to the pan was seamless. Please give this product a try ....you won'the regret this purchase.... I didn't : ) !

Love my Simple Baker Silicone Mat
This is the first one I have ever used. Before this I was using one that my husband bought for me from Pampered Chief because I was using a cotton dish towel (that's what my mother taught me) which worked really good. He thought he would surprise me with a new fancy upscale thing to use. I hated it, but didn't tell him. I kept using it just because I didn't want to hurt his feelings. Every pie crust I made stuck to it really bad, had to use a lot of flour, which made bad pie crust. He didn't noticed, but he would have eaten any piece of pie, even if he had to chop it with an axe. :D. He passed away recently, bless he pure sweet heart. Anyway, my daughter saw me struggling with that old thing and suggested this one to me. I have to say how happy I am with it. I love it. There is no slipping and sliding on the counter top. It stays in place perfectly. Didn't have to use gobs of flour to keep it from sticking. My pie crust is now as tender and flakey as it use to be using the old cotton dish towel, I think it is even better. Just wish my Bill was here to sample this new and improved pie crust that I now make.

Will not work for fondant
I received this today and will be returning it. It has a metal? mesh running through it that makes a 'pattern' on fondant...so it is not useful to me. Additionally, although it says it's 'extra think" it's still pretty thin (you can see your countertop through it) and its edges stayed curled up when I took it out of the box. I'll have to keep looking for a smooth surfaced silicone mat for my needs.

High Quality Silicone Pastry Mat
I have bought 3 mats in last few years, and most start curling up rather quickly. This mat is thicker than the others, and it tends to stay fairly flat when I am using it. Dough will stick to it if you don't dust it with flour, but it is not a problem for me. It washes off the flour/shortening fairly easily most of the time. I kept the original package and roll it back up each time to keep it clean, dry, and out of the way. Whatever you do, don't use a knife around it. I am sure it will damage the product quickly. I am happy with the item. My only question is how long will it last? If I have any problems down the road, I will come back and note them in this review.
