Commuter Acase comparison
My wife has an Acase Superleggera Pro for the same phone. I am comparing this case that I got for my phone with hers. They both have an inner softer rubber lining with an outer harder snap on shell. The on off button and volume buttons are covered on both and work well on both. The charge port and headphone port has a hinged cover on the commuter that the ACase does not have. You have to pry it open with your finger nail and hold it open while you insert your charger cord. It is awkward but gets easier with practice. I have thought about removing it but I haven't yet. It does slow me down a little getting the charger cord in. The outer shell is harder on the Commuter and more slippery than the Acase. I slid both across a wood table and the Commuter slid farther before coming to a stop as a result of the harder material. I prefer the feel of the Acase in my hand and I am less prone to drop the phone as a result of the texture. The Commuter is an improvement over the slick feel the bare phone has in comfort and as far as dropping goes. The Commuter slides in and out of tight pockets easier than the Acase but the difference is not an issue for me. The lip around the bezel protrudes more on the Commuter than the Acase and presumably gives better protection as well as making the Commuter slightly thicker. This lip is beveled to a chisel edge away from the screen so as not to inhibit access to the screen. It feels a little bit sharper to the hand than the more rounded lip on the Acase. The inner rubber lining is loose where it forms the lip on the Acase and seems sloppy to me. In conclusion I would say the Commuter has better port protection, probably offers better drop protection, and overall looks better. The Acase feels better in the hand, is less likely to be dropped, is thinner and is more convenient to insert cables into. I would imagine that in certain types of drops the softer materials on the Acase might be better to absorb shock. The Commuter in yellow was $5 cheaper than the Acase at the time I bought it.

Tough protection, sleek profile, eye-catching. Replaced my Ballistic - Never going back!
I LOVE my Otterbox Commuter case! It is so easy to take on and off my phone when needed, yet fits so snugly NOTHING gets inside. I've even had a couple spills and was able to quickly wipe them away before any moisture got inside to my phone.I had a Ballistic and I was constantly having to take it apart to clean dust and hairs that got inside. The silicone jacket stretched out over time which just made the dust leaking worse. Eventually the corners of the plastic screen cover started popping up making it impossible to use the touch screen. My Otterbox keeps my phone SO CLEAN!!! It comes with a beautiful clear stick-on screen protector that is easy to apply using the instructions (you can also watch a video if the instructions don't make sense). No bubbles and it's a cinch to wipe clean with any soft cloth (I often just use the edge of my t-shirt because I hate a dirty screen and that's what's handy). I bought extra screen protectors but haven't had to use them yet because this one is so tough. The case itself has just enough grip to keep my phone in my hand but still slips easily in and out of my pocket or purse, unlike the bulky rubbery Ballistic. And it still has great drop protection with rubber at the corners and a raised edge to protect the screen. It's a masterful design! I'm sold on Otterbox.I also was able to get this bright yellow for a super low price on Amazon...apparently it wasn't a good seller or maybe it was being discontinued. I wasn't sure I'd like the color but since I'm not that picky my thriftiness won out. Now I love it. It's easy to identify among other phones.

Very light weight!!
Just wanted to update this review. This case is the best case I've ever owned. Literally 2 days after I published the first review, I dropped my phone (which I'd just bought 5 days before) on my tiled kitchen floor and all was fine. The case absorbed the shock and there was no damage to the phone. The phone didn't pop out of the case like I've seen happen with other cases. A few days after that I went camping with my housemate and a friend. While on a hike I dropped my phone while climbing up the side of a hill/mossy cliff. My phone tumbled down, bounced off a few rocks and plummeted into a ravine that had shallow water. My housemate thought my phone was destroyed. But when I leaped into the ravine to retrieve my phone, I noticed that it was fine and intact. There was literally no damage to the phone and it worked perfectly fine. As long as the covers for the headphone opening and charger port are sealed, no liquid damage will happen to the phone. And the screen protector did exactly what it was designed to do. There were no scratches on the actual phone. I simply wiped the screen, took it out of the case to make sure no water got into it, and as precaution, I put it on airplane mode and just let it chill :) The phone is still working as normal. This Otterbox Commuter series is great.Previously submitted:I like the color. So far it's holding up well. I mean I haven't dropped it yet to really test it out but I think it's a great case. Really light weight and doesn't overheat my phone when it's charging.

Great purchase, saved my phone multiple times already
Bought this a few months ago despite reviews suggesting it was a clever knock-off of the real thing. Was received quickly and in official Otterbox packaging, holo sticker and all. Quality was just as expected from such a brand and it doesn't bulk up the phone too much all things considered. The silicone feels good quality, thick, fits the phone well even with my TechArmor screen protector. The plastic back plate feels sturdy, not cheap at all.As for stress testing, I've dropped it a few times from as low as the seat of the couch to standing height (4ish feet) without issue. It slipped out of my pocket while biking once and tumbled across the pavement several feet and I was terrified something bad happened to it. Picked it up, dusted it off, and the phone was completely unharmed. The case itself actually bears almost no evidence of the accident aside from a small scuff on the bottom of the back plate. All in all, great purchase, protects your phone great.

GREAT color, GREAT case
GREAT color, GREAT case. Flexible but sturdy, gotta love the Otter Box! The screen protector it came with however came terribly scratched and the card provided to get rid of the air bubbles underneath, scratched the screen even more. I had to throw out the screen protector! I never had a problem with the otter box cell case though.

Worth the few extra bucks for the brand name
First thing first, I bought a yellow case because I lose ever other colour out there. Bright yellow makes it highly visible if you leave it on a black bedsheet, or in a mess of clothes or anywhere else the everyday scatterbrain might leave it.The case is extremely small and tight to the body, but I do not feel it compromises on protection. With the case came a screen protector, which was a fairly standard install, make sure the screen is VERY clean because you only get one shot with the cover. As for the case, it is not bulky, not sticky (no making in and out of the pocket difficult), and not obtrusive. I will usually swap out my batteries throughout a long work day if I'm away from a wall outlet, so to my advantage, the case is quickly removable without much hassle. I'm not heavy on this phone, nor do I actively abuse it, but for the everyday wear and tear, drops, and smacks, it protects the phone well.Dropped the phone before buying this case on the stairs at my office and took a chip out of the side. Repeated the same drop (accidentally) after the case, and neither the case, nor the phone are any worse for wear. As the title suggest, this case is great for everyday use, wear and tear.My only concern is that over time opening and closing the headphone cover will lead to it being damaged, due to the small size of it. After about a month of use and abuse thogh, it seems to be holding fine, so perhaps I'm just being cautious. If torn between a cheap knock off or the real thing, I highly recommend the real thing.
