ecosystem Journal Ruled: Large Onyx Flexicover (ecosystem Series) Flexibound – August 4, 2009

I really like these books. The large works great for my meeting note-taking - not too small and it has a back pocket that holds folded up 8 1/2 X 11's nicely. Someone mentioned college ruled being a problem - I actually like college ruling, so that works well. The paper is nice quality and takes to my gel pens without bleeding through. The cover is sturdy, yet flexible, with a latex coating that is nice in the hand. I like the fact that they are American made, and use recycled materials.Two tiny pet peeves: The covers are a flat color, so they do sometimes show fingerprints, etc. Second, the bookmark ribbon has come unglued and fallen out of my last two journals - no biggie, but irritating none the less!Overall, nice enough that I'm on this page to reorder new ones!

I love everything about this ruled journal. I like the fact they are fountain pen friendly -- I use a wide variety of fountain pens and the paper in the Large Onyx Flexicover (Ruled) journal does a great job with line sharpness (no fuzzing out) and no overt bleed-through. Depending on how viscous your ink is, your mileage may vary. But I was pleasantly surprised how sharp my strokes remained.The other big factor for me is the micro-perforations (allows you to tear out the pages) that allow me to scan-in my notes and sketches.I am down to my last unopened journal, but I can't say enough good things about them. The paper quality, the construction and overall fit and finish of these journals are amazing. I will be buying more of these.Friends don't let friends use Moleskin!

How are Ecosystem notebooks superior to Moleskine notebooks? Funny you should ask. There are several sizes and types to choose from. I use them at work and at home. Highly recommended.

I got this notebook as a present to my boyfriend, he loves it. One time he told me he had taken a page of notes and then wondered how he was going to file it in his folder, then he realized the pages are all perforated. Needless to say, he was pleased. He writes with fountain pens and those usually bleed through easily, but this paper can handle it, with no bleed-through! Not horribly noticeable anyway. And only when he goes a word over with the fountain pen. He is quite taken with it, he takes Philosophy notes for one of his classes in this.We will continue to get this brand, we both love that the products are USA based and made! (:

The pages have a nice weight to them, and a pleasing, creamy color. I like the narrow line width as well. The elastic strap broke very quickly, however, but this seems to be a problem with all ecosystem journals--I have not owned one yet on which the strap did not break.

As advertised. I've tried a variety of notebooks but none with all of this notebook's features. Each page is perforated. The cover is heavy enough to carry every day without losing it's shape. The paper is heavy enough for me to use a medium nib fountain pen (Nibbler) without the ink bleeding through to the back of the page - so unlike the Moleskin I can write on both sides.

I believe that you should know that this organizer is college ruled--very narrow spaces between lines. If you do not have dainty handwriting, that may be a problem. I give this otherwise good product three stars becasue nowhere in the listing is "college ruled" mentioned and there is no picture of an actual page.

The strap that goes around the notebook broke/unglued from the back cover after about two weeks. I was really looking forward to this eco-friendly alternative to Moleskines, but the difference in quality is too obvious. If they improve, I would happily give them another try- I love the idea!
