Quick simple install of a fast "Charger".
Receive extremely well packed unit ahead of the date delivery was garenteed for. Unit unpacked well and since I already watched their youtube video for installation and had head unit specs from their website. I was already prewired and terminated at both ends with my plug and breaker. Install literally took less then 15 min. My 2015 Leaf charges in less the 4 hours now from less then 25 % battery. Worked as advertised. Only thing I would do is improve the mount points with some metal in the formed plastic. In the winter a hard bump could fracture the plastic mounts. The holster is not a concern since it is mounted higher then charger and out of the way. If the cord with plug was longer a nema approved outside plug enclosure could be use but hard wiring would be cheaper in that case.Update: Now that I have been using for 2 years, the product has performed flawlessly for 100's of charges. The plastic this thing is made of is awesome. Even in -10 degree day it did not seem brittle. That was one of my concerns that has now become a distant memory. I do find myself wishing it had come with a Nema 14-50. I have a pigtail I built to use at campgrounds when needed. Oh and longer supply cord statement hold true still.

Works great but spendy.
Charges my Volt just fine, of course, and is future-proofing for my next electric-only car, probably a Chevrolet Bolt although there will be many options on the market soon since changes in CAFE are rapidly forcing car manufacturers to improve the mileage their products offer. The ECSE is spendy, thus four stars, although I save money on an electrician, etc. by using my existing NEMA 6-50 outlet that is in my garage for my infrequently used welder. However, this savings may be illusory over the long run in that I don't get the half price rate offered by my electric utility for late night/early morning charging which requires a separate meter (provided at no cost by my utility) and its installation (provided by an electrician hired by me). One thing at a time. However, there is the 30% federal tax credit (Form 8911) I can use to help defray a portion of the cost. Edit: the federal tax credit expired at the beginning of 2017 and was not renewed by Congress.

Very Well Made Product - HCS-40P -32 amp EV Charger from Clipper Creek
I did a lot of research and comparisons to other brands prior to making a purchase decision. The product arrived on time and well packaged. Boxed opening showed a very well USA made product. It looks very hardy and should last a long time (this model is made for indoor installation). The component does not feel cheap plastic like others made oversea. Had a certified electrician installed it and upgrade one of the breaker slot with a 40A breaker. Works of the bat after installation (at the time, my 500e Fiat was still on order & we didn't have the car yet). The only thing that was of concern was a loud "clunk" noise that it makes when you plug in the charger to the car. I thought that it may go away after a breaking period. Today is 2 months after the purchase and the "clunk" noise is still there. I just made a call to customer service @ Clipper Creek and the technician knew exactly what I was describing and he says that it's normal. He says that it comes from the high Voltage turning on and initiating the charge. So if your machine does not make this noise, you may have a defective device he says. The tech was very helpful explaining how it works. He reminded me that I have a 3 years product guaranteed on it so not to worry. When calling in, I got a person right away, I did not get passed around and my customer service experience with this company was excellent.Over all, I believe that this a very well made product and I am very happy with it's performance.

Unit fails after a while.
I have been using this unit for a while and all of a sudden it’s doesn’t hold any more power so it has to be replaced. I didn’t plan on having to replace this every few years. I’ve been using it to to three times a week so it doesn’t have that much wear and tear.

Fast delivery easy install. So far so good
I had a GE wattstation for my Leaf. The contactor had a meltdown. Not sure why, I am suspecting bad connection due to disconnecting the car while it was still demanding full load through the contactor too many times. It lasted 3 years and did its job.I read the reviews and liked what I saw for HCS-40P. Delivery was fast. The unit is very light compared to my last one. Install was easy. TWO THINGS I would change off the bat. FIRST, Amazon describes the HCS-40P as rated for indoor/outdoor. After I made the purchase I was reading the on line manual and reading different reviews I come to find out they Clipper Creek doesnt recommend the plug in version for outdoor install. The frame in weatherproof but the plug is not. Buyer Beware I guess. SECOND, I am in the process of buying security lag screws. If your unit is installed in a non secure location such as my car port (Hawaii), the only thing stopping this device from growing legs and walking away are 2 - 1/4-20 SAE lag screws. Not very secure. Im going past the security torx because any one can get those. I see some pentagon head 3/8 lag screws on line and Im gonna buy those and give them a try. If someone goes through the trouble of getting the special socket or cuts the charger off of the wall then bravo to them. If I up date this review it is because something went wrong. If its not updated its still 5 star.

Love this charger!
Easy to mount. It comes with huge 4" wood screws. A bit overkill given how light it is. I actually just screwed into drywall and it holds very well. Extra long charging cable I'm sure is helpful if you have a long distance to cover. Big indicator shows when it's charging. The whole charger is very well made. Reason for 4 stars...My only issue is with the pigtail cable that plugs into the wall. It's barely a foot long. Also the prongs face away from the wall so you have to twist it to plug it in. I needed about another foot otherwise the charger would be right behind my dryer and hard to get to. I purchased this extender for an extra $60. I wouldn't need it, if the pigtail was longer.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZY2BMVT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
