Why LEDs don't always dim well...
I bought these on the reputation of CREE for making high quality, good CRI (color rendition) LED bulbs. The 12-packs had the best pricing, but availability was weeks away. These 4-packs had decent pricing.EDIT: Of 16 bulbs ordered, 15 arrived in working condition. The last bulb was broken when I opened the box - perhaps shipping damage. It doesn't appear that Amazon has a way of requesting that a single bulb be replaced out of a four pack. These 65-watt bulbs are noticably brighter than the 65-watt Sylvania flood lights that we used to have in our in-ceiling cannisters. Their 2700K temperature (color) is also a bit cooler (less yellow, closer to white) than the old incandesents. Consequently, in a finished basement with sixteen ceiling cannisters, we now typically run these CREEs at 50% on their dimmers, instead of full brightness on the old incandescents. Our basement feels a tad cooler, which was our goal for summertime (in winter, we'll re-install the incandescent bulbs for a modest warming effect - like the rotisseries at the grocery store). So the elephant in the room... dimming. These bulbs exhibit some of the typical dimming behaviors (quirks) that have been reported with a variety of LEDs from various manufacturers. In our basement, we have a single circuit (from the breaker box), split into three switched runs. So we have separate switches/dimmers for the south side, north side, and west side. Observations: At less than full brightness, these bulbs sometimes emit a modest buzz. Interestingly, if more than one run is switched on, varying one dimmer setting (e.g. the south side dimmer) might impact the brightness, buzz, or flicker of that run OR another run (e.g. the north side dimmer). So one run's dimmer setting might impact the behavior of the other run!Although it would be easy to blame the product, the fact is there are no North American or global dimming standards. And these new tech bulbs are asked to interface with a variety of old tech dimmers (none of which were made for LED). Here's a good primer which explains why we'll probably be waiting a few more years before dimming LED lights becomes uniform and reliable:...search online for an article called "the led dimming dilemma" hosted on the ecmweb site (not allowed to post links here)Meanwhile I'm happy with these CREEs. By slightly adjusting the three banks of dimmers, we can achieve a mid-level dim without flicker and minimal buzz. It just takes a moment longer...

Awesome bulb, while they last..
I bought about 30 of these a year or so ago. Instant on, perfect color, no noise, very happy. Only problem is they are not lasting nearly as long as I hoped they would. I had the first one go out about a month ago and since then, 3 more have died. I guess I could return them under warranty, but when I ran the numbers it was costing about $8 to exchange my $10 bulbs. Not really worth it. For the price, I really wish they were a little more reliable.

This CREE LED (BR30-like) bulb has excellent construction. Color rendition in this 2700 degree Kelvin bulb is nice.It emits NO Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). Some other manufacturers LED bulbs (from China) emit so much RFI that some people cannot even listen to their AM/FM broadcast radios in their own homes! However, I have found that CREE (and TCP) manufacture bulbs that emit no (or very low/not detectable) amounts of RFI.

Good for about a year before they start failing
I bought these about 1.5 years ago, and now I've had 2 fail already about 2 months apart. The first one was intermittent working/not working for about 2 weeks, then completely failed. The 2nd just outright stopped working. The idea behind buying expensive LEDs was to never have to deal with changing bulbs out again, and further not having to waste money. These are not a good investment.

Excellent output.
Nice and cool. We have slowly replaced all bulbs in the house with LED. These were installed in our basement cans. The older traditional bulbs were always going out. These newer LED's seem to last forever. Plus the heat from the old bulbs in the well insulated basement used to get pretty warm. Once these were installed the place stays nice and cool in the summer. If we need a heater we will turn it on (not the lights).

Dimming performance questionable in some systems
I added these to my older versions of the same bulb, but these don't dim the same way as the older version. My home automation system can not turn them all the way off.Other than that, they seem fine.

Bad Bulbs
I have purchased these spots twice over the past year to replace my incandescent bulbs in our kitchen. They were listed as long lasting and reliable. That is incorrect. They consistently last no longer than the ones I replaced and have cost far more for less service time. Do not buy these bulbs, it is a waste of your money.

A great product.
Purchased to replace incandescent bulbs in a church chapel. Perfect replacement. Reduced energy comsumption by 90% while improving illumination. Another big savings is that cost of hiring someone to replace bulbs is greatly reduced due to long life of bulb. Incredibly good results for the money.
