Nice Little Book
Nice little book, it's too bad we all have such a difficult time actually learning to live wisely. An aside: too bad, too, that women apparently are not allowed to be Buddhist monks and strive to reach "enlightenment". Rather, it seems, women are only able to achieve, at best, a state of "nunhood", if you will. They are sometimes mentioned in the Dalai Lama's writings, but detailed explanations of their Buddhist roles are never given.

Bringing Awareness
This beautiful small book contains short passages that concentrates the best and most essential of the teachings of His Holiness. It goes from common secular principles for the personal development of well being toward the main points of buddhist spiritual teachings. It works as a bridge for the people who simple wish to broaden their awareness about their life, their environment, and also explore elements of the buddhist path. The Dalai Lama words are the perfect company for your trips.Recomended!

Love the Dalai Lama but not everything he preaches
I enjoyed the book and what the Dalai Lama stands for. I would consider myself a very spiritual person with no relious affiliation although I lean towards a lot of what Buddhism preaches. Having said that I've read 3 books by the Dalai Lama and although I find some interesting outlooks and views on life I feel a lot more suppression. Suppressing things in life as anyone who is spiritual knows only makes those things stronger and twisted. I have found a lot more inspiration and light from Osho myself and although we should never agree fully with any philosophy and find these things out for ourselves, I agree with Osho's views a lot more the the Dalai Lama even though he has a great sense about him. I hope this helps readers intested in discovering their own inner light...peace be with you : )

Great beginner's guide
This book have me a better understanding of the Dalai Lama and his wisdom. I highlighted many great points to revisit now and refresh my mind, as well as a couple of texts he recommends to the reader. He is an amazing man full of great wisdom and I personally revere him. I'm a new Buddhist, and want to find ways to enhance my practice, and therefore my life. Even in the 7 months since I declared this was the religion/philosophy for me, I have noticed a change in how I treat myself and others, this is with the help of this book, and others by him. Enjoy.

compassion,service
In this small{literally] book, HH Dalai lama speaks of compassion, ridding oneself of anger, forgiveness of enemies, living life in a truly more loving way. Though much of it seems familar to western ears[the ideas of love compassion and service are not unknown in western religion and philosophy],the simplicity of much of what the dalai lama says is striking. His own struggles with anger are enlightening, and the prose, gleaned from lectures I believe, is smooth and cleanly transformed into english. There are other books of the dalai lama that are far more demanding{"tranforming the mind" for example},though few are more accesible. A lovely gift,a wonderful introduction to one of the masters of the day.

what can I say... Dalai Lama is meant to be a spiritual leader
no matter your relegion or beleifs, you will always find Dalai Lama a spiritual leader. He teaches with respect, and explains in vey simple words. Let me give you an example: you might feel that he is addressing to you form a high perspective, suddenly the word "sipiritual" might come to you, and then he mentions the word he will explain exactly what he means by "spiritual" in just a few words. Each page of the book has so much wisdom within!

A favorite book
This small book is easy to read. Each page has one paragraph per page. Each page is limited to one topic. It has ideas which have helped me understand a problem I have had for decades.

Great idea, bit short
Although this book is full of wisdom, it does feel a little short. Each page has a paragraph or two and nothing more. Read the entire thing in under 30 minutes. Perfect if you want the essential essence of his wisdom, but doesn't go in-depth enough for anything else.

5/5: Short and snappy: Great insight into Buddhist teachings.
I've previously read one or two books about the teachings of the Dalai Lama and this was one of the cheaper, and shorter, books which offers insight into his teachings. I purchased this on Kindle as it was so cheap (£1.49 at the time) and I can recommend it for that price. If you're purchasing the hardcopy, just beware that this is a short and snappy little thing.

Wisdom from the very wise.
Great little book with plenty of thought provoking offerings. An insight into the world of Buddhism or just a way of thinking good thoughts? You choose.

Very helpful.
I really am thankful the Dalai Lama put this book out. It's an item I've bought multiple times as gifts but I got my copy in 1999. I've used it as a guide since then. It's a very helpful book.
