A good read but somewhat redundant
This is a very positive and uplifting collection of essays about turning 70. However, I can't give it 5 stars because the book is full of redundancies and so the title is not really appropriate. This isn't about 70 things to do when you turn 70, it's a book with 70 essays about what to do when you turn 70. IMO, there is a difference.I would recommend the book for seniors who might feel depressed about this milestone age. BUT the messages are fairly uniform in a sense. What they basically say is "Be happy. Enjoy life. Don't give up. Get a degree, or sail the seas or enlist in senior athletic contests, learn to dance, learn a new language, etc., etc." And that's not bad, mind you. All seniors, I think, have occasion to fight bouts of depression, and you CAN get an uplift from reading these essays...just don't look for "70 things," because I didn't find any. Also, I think I could point out that most of the writers of the essays were upper middle class (or above), and a number of them lived in California or Florida, so if you're retired and live on a modest income someplace other than the two lower coastal regions, you might discount some of the suggestions or advice.I can neither trash it or praise it to the skies, but as I say, it is positive and uplifting, and it wouldn't, for most of us, be a waste of time or money to read it. Just have realistic expectations.

High Expectations - Low Delivery
I really wanted to like this book and I couldn't wait to read it. But It was just okay.. Pie in the Sky kinda book. I was hoping for more nuts and bolts of how a person reaching 70 years really feels. Some contributors hadn't even turned 70 yet. Just said how they hoped to feel and do. Give me a break...70 is NOT the new 50. All the plastic surgery in the world can't change that. I'm all for eating right and taking good care of yourself, but really...you're at an age now to hopefully enjoy the fruits of your labor. Stop stressing over things and be thankful to be 70 years old.

In his view it lacked inspiration as the whole point of life is to be happy.
My dad was a bit disenchanted with this book, he started to read it and got the message to 'be happy'. In his view it lacked inspiration as the whole point of life is to be happy.

Delightful list of thoughts and ideas for those who have ...
Delightful list of thoughts and ideas for those who have successfully threaded the maze of life and arrived at the grand mark of three score and ten. Now that we have arrived at 70, we still have a lot of living ahead of us. This book gives a collection of authors and thoughts of adjustments / tactics for coping with senior years and making the most of them.

Perfect gift for 70th birthday!
This was a much-appreciated gift at our friend's recent 70th birthday! It's an upbeat and inspiring read for someone having this milestone birthday. We combined it with the coffee mug that says 'Made in 1947 - all original parts".

Learned from it a lot
While I do have three pages in the book, I did learn a lot from all the other authors.Identified with them, recognised many feelings and actions.Felt that we should tell it event more often. We are so far as some imagine us to be.So many more creativity comes out, comes even stronger at old age!We do get also more courageous to tell, to experiment, to do.So many different opinions on how to get better through the 70th.I think wether you are farther or approaching it, you could learn some understanding from it, and some positive ideas. In all, it is also a very enjoyable reading.
