I was riveted
It didn’t take me too long to devour this book. The life of Carl Panzram makes sense considering the world we live in.

An intense true crime tale about a little known serial killer.
I had listened to a podcast Carl Panzram and was fascinated. They had gotten a lot of their information from this book. Mr Green did not disappoint. Telling this story in an unvarnished and straightforward way made it all the more frightening. The abuse Carl suffered from his parents, the church/“reform” schools, his fellow man and finally the penal system, created the monster he became. And as outraged and angry as I am about his early experiences, it still doesn’t excuse his culpability for the monstrous acts he committed. If you enjoy true crime, this is a great book to read.

WoW 😳
I don't think I've ever read a book of this length pack such a huge punch. I was engaged from the first word to the last. He managed to keep the pace like that of a work of fiction and that isn't always easy to do when recounting true events. I will definitely be reading more by Green.

Hard to put down!
Good insight & background to the making of Carl. From young boy to man. A sad but gripping story. Well written.

Amazing
I've been in love with true crime since I was a tiny tot, five, to be exact. But I wasn't familiar with this killer, that was my reason for picking up this book. Reading into it I was enthralled, and thrilled, yet disgusted. Carl's life was beyond interesting, and I would've loved to have met him and delved into his mind; gotten a chance to talk to him in person and ask him some questions, which no doubt would've resulted in me getting nothing in return, but if it wouldn't have been interesting to try. Since then I've been doing my own research and to say this book isn't spot-on is an understatement. Mr. Green has done yet another amazing job, and I can't recommend this book enough for the adoring true crime fan. Well done!

More Fiction than Non-Fiction.
I was really looking forward to this book and it has left me 100% disappointed. Author has taken several liberties in describing Panzram. He makes him out to be a giant of a man with super hero abilities.Raping grown men at the age of 14. Staring down guards to the point of them being so intimidated that the 200 rounds fired at him all missed. Ripping the bars off the hinges to his cell and chasing guards with an axe. Killing 6 men and raping each one within 3 hours. Punching a horse out. Buying a 6 and an 8 year old girl to rape. Crocodiles sensing a "primordial kinship" with him so leaving him alone in the jungle. Being whipped with a cat-o-nine tails for a solid hour and never once making a sound. It's more of a Marvel or DC comic than a biography. Was Panzram evil? Yes. As evil as the author sells in his book, Far from it.

I wonder.
I have read a few of his stories over the last few weeks. Its not my intention to degrade the man and his writing, I just have to wonder how he finds all these details that happened long before the turn of the 20th century. All in all, the books kept my attention. They were all pretty quick reads and went into details of their childhoods and what went wrong. 4 stars.

Absolute Heatbreaking Page Turner
While he was a monster, and the crimes he committed were abhorrent, this book has so much gory detail that all i can say is ... Superbly written.

Interesting
Good read. It’s amazing what human beings can do to others. Also how cruel prisons were back then. Things have changed

A GREAT but DISTURBING read
Noting to say since most people who bought this book knew what they were getting. A prime example of man’s inhumanity to his fellow man and/or child.

I'm sceptical.
Written as if everything the protagonist said about his life is true, though he was a psychopath which is characterised by a "grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying". Therefore, the author bases his book on such a source without taking a step back.
