I had reservations about buying a heating pad this expensive, but I absolutely love far infrared saunas and I know how much different (and better) that heating method is, so after reading an awful lot of reviews and dealing with serious back pain, I went ahead and shelled out the money. I am so glad I did, because I cannot even believe how good this thing is. It provides serious pain relief and relaxation, is really easy to use, and seems very well made. My only complaint is that it’s really heavy, but I guess that is inevitable with this much tourmaline! I leave it on my favorite rocking chair, and find myself sitting on it all the time for comfort and warmth as well as pain relief. This has provided results after I leave the heating pad - my overall back pain is greatly diminished all day, even when I’m not sitting on it. It’s kind of miraculous. I don’t know if it’s the negative ions or what, but I am completely sold on this brand and will probably be buying some as gifts for family members.UPDATE: I now own two of these, this and the full body version. The benefits become even more apparent over time. I used to have poor circulation and was always cold. I am now finding that I am less cold, *even when I am not on the mat.* I’m less cold all the time. We live in a cold northern climate with a long and cold winter, and regular use of this thing has actually made me want to keep the thermostat at a lower level, simply because I’m now plenty warm at 67F instead of 70F. I haven’t had back pain in months, I haven’t been sick even though I’ve been surrounded by sick people, and my energy levels are better. I simply love them and swear by the longer term health benefits… and also, it just feels really, really good. Hope this helps someone who’s considering the purchase.

After a poor customer service experience with another brand of Far Infrared Heating pad, I bought this UTK unit on May 14 2021. I am writing this review slightly more than one year later.My first impressions were that this unit is very well constructed and provides excellent relief. The pad itself is quite h e a v y (because of the elements). The coupling for the cord seemed heavy duty and I was confident that the problem that plagued the first brand FIR heating pad I had tried, would not happen with this UTK.I have had two back surgeries and ended up with chronic pain. More surgeries were suggested, but I decided to not have them. That is all to say that I do have experience with pain!The BAD NEWS (be sure to look below for the GOOD news!)Fast forward to almost a year later…two days before my one year anniversary of using this unit. I got what appeared to be an error code of EAA that was accompanied by an auto a shut off. I went to the manual and found nothing there. I checked all connections and tried a different outlet..all with the same result. I was able to use it for two night by gingerly moving the heating pad to get to a “sweet spot”….and then nothing would work to make it useable.The GOOD NEWS is that I contacted the company and, true to their word, they immediately shipped me a replacement pad.While I wish I had been right about the heavy duty connector meaning no powering issues, I was VERY relieved that company stood behind their product and replaced the pad. Customer service, in this fay of “the-customer-is-seldom- right” I am happy to have a company like UTK. THANK YOU UTK!!!I don’t know what to expect in the future. Connections appear to be the weak link in these FIR heating pads and I have to wonder if the more expensive iterations have the same issues.In the meantime I will be enjoying the benefit of heat relief and dreaming of an FIR heating pad that is as durable as a “regular” heating pad. If this fails again I will be buying another, extra large, “regular” and will wait for better technology.

I am not one to snuggle up with blankets - I get too hot. My husband can be using a blanket and I have to put on shorts. Yes, menopause has hit. With this heating pad I can have it on 110-120 degrees and just feel the warmth permeate. It is such a comforting feeling without making you feel too hot for quite a while. It is hard to explain the feeling - in addition to the wonderful deep warmth, it does something to my feeling of well-being and I feel a sense of safety. security and contentedness. The weight adds to the feeling of comfort.I initially got a smaller one because of plantar fasciitis pain in my foot and loved it so much I got this bigger one. I also bought the wrist one for my son. Now when I go to bed I wrap the wrist one around my foot, which works great with the Velcro on it, lay the bigger one on my bed with a sheet over it, and put the smaller one over my mid-section and just bask in the warmth while I fall asleep.I love the controls where you can control the temperature and the time it will stay on. It comes with a very nice carrying case.My husband gets pain in his knees and he says it helps that feel better.I told my little brother about it who suffers from sciatica pain. He got one and said he LOVES it.My sister-in-law tried mine and I now have 4 of them sitting in my living room waiting for her to get back from a trip and get them to give to her family for Christmas presents - plus one for herself.

I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas 2020. She has been unable to lie down, due to a severe back injury, until now, so I am giving it to her for her birthday April 15. The containment box, when it arrived December 8, 2020, was crushed and torn, so I have suspected that it may have been a used product rather than new as claimed. Also, there was no manual of operation education and instruction in the box. Other than those two issues, it seems to be functioning as prescribed. Recently,I plugged it in and operated the buttons and they seem to be just fine. It would be helpful to receive the paper manual however, if possible. I hope she will be pleased and that it will help her heal.
