Excellent kit; tiny parts but well-fitting and straightforward to assemble.
This is my first battleship model, and my first full-hull model so I don't have much of a frame of reference for comparison, but I found it satisfying and straightforward to assemble. It is a modern kit, so parts fit together well with very little sanding or trimming required. Some of the little anti-aircraft guns were bent on the molds, but they were easy enough to straighten out. Many of the pieces are tiny (~1mm or less) and easy to lose. I lost one of the searchlights, for example and had to switch in a spare replacement from another kit. Some of the pieces are also extremely delicate. I broke one of the mast components and had to glue it back together. The kit is snap fit, but benefits from some glue (e.g. in the third photo, you can see that there is a gap between the main body and the hull, which I have left unglued on the off chance I later decide to drill holes to mount it on a stand). The kit comes with a lot of optional detail parts -- bollards, binoculars, guns, sandbags, ammunition boxes, etc. -- most of which require either that you drill additional holes following guides on the underside of the deck, or that you just glue them on directly. The molded-in colours are fine, but I elected to paint the entire kit (hand brush + panel liner), since I wanted to add photo-etch rails and I knew I'd have to match their colour anyhow. Thanks to the parts separation and snap fit assembly, it is quite easy to paint parts separately before assembling. Given the slight translucency of the plastic -- particularly noticeable on the hull -- I think the kit does benefit considerably from painting, even without any significant weathering.Overall, very satsified with the model. I highly recommend, particularly to other beginning modelers, and look forward to trying other models in the Fujimi Next series.

Top notch
Fujimi "NEXT" is a label for quick built 1/700 ship models, either to be completed full hull or waterline, with a minimum of painting. Most parts are molded in the fitting color, and with some minor touch up, one will achieve an outstanding result. While detail is somewhat below the phenomenal level of the recent "normal" Fujimi 1/700 series, it is still second to none if compared to other leading Japanese brands like for example Tamiya, Hasegawa, Aoshima or Skywave/Pit-Road. Of course, the premium approach enabling the customer to build the item in record time to high standards has its price - these kits are not cheap, but they are worth every cent. Unfortunately, the "NEXT" series comprises so far only a few models, less than 20 as of late 2023, all of the Imperial Japanese Navy in WW Two: Battleships YAMATO, MUSASHI in several guises, fast battleships KONGO, HARUNA and HIEI, aircraft carriers AKAGI and SHINANO, cruisers KUMA and TAMA, serveral destroyers, and - reviewed here - battleship NAGATO, the former Japanese fleet flagship in the inter-war period and the only Japanese battleship to survive the war. I do own all "NEXT" series kits (less the destroyers) and can recommend all of them. You see really a progress in your work, it's fun, and the result is astonishing.
