A Whopper of a Tale
Eli had a knack for telling all sorts of lies until the day the Lie-O-Meter was delivered to his house. Suddenly, Eli canโt lie about leaving the blocks out on the floor, not brushing his teeth at bedtime, or eating one of the cupcakes for his sisterโs class. Each time he tries, the Lie-O-Meter is quick to point out the truth.โฃ Until one day, the Lie-O-Meter doesnโt catch one of Eli's whoppers, and the dog is blamed. At first, Eli feels relief at getting away with it, but then he feels guilty. And when Eli finally tells the truth, something really wonderful happens!โฃ This book would be a great one to share in the classroom or at home when teaching about honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.

Cute story/ positive message- ending could be better written
This is a cute story about a boy who fibs often and learns a lesson in how his lies effect others. I will say I wished the ending was a bit more thoughtful.

Great lesson
This book helped the lying come to an end after realizing in kids language that lying not only effects yourself. This is the only book our kiddo loves to read at night!

Nice book to start a conversation about lying
Sadly this book arrived damaged, actually torn a bit. I wanted to use it right away so I fiber-taped it. Nice book to start a conversation about lying.

Children's lying - books to help
I bought this book to help my 7 year old become aware of her constant lying and learn about the effects of this lying. This book was a great disappointment. The story was contrived and too obvious even for a 7 year old. And the consequences of lying, that people don't believe you or trust you, weren't addressed. My daughter's reaction was 'the lie-o-meter' was a cool idea but the story was stupid. She certainly didn't learn anything about lying from it and it was such a poor story it immediately went into her books to give away pile. Bruce Coville's The Skull of Truth proved a much better book about lying that wasn't above her age level (though I had to read it to her) and it cleverly addressed all aspects of lying in such a way that we could discuss them without directly talking about her lying. She has significantly reduced her lying after reading that book and we've read it several times. The Skull of Truth: A Magic Shop Book

Lie-O-Meter helps kids learn the consequences of a lie and how to turn it around
A wonderful book to share with children how lies have consequences and not just for the liar, but for those around them as well whom it might hurt. This story also has a wonderfully positive ending to show how a person can turn a lie around and make it better - the fact remains that the lie was not erased but that truth and good deeds can sometimes outweigh the pain of a lie.
