Go back to originals to really see Abstract Expressionism
Good quality printing but not pleasant to look at. Muddy. Might be trying to capture Frankenthaler style but misses the mark and type fonts keep changing. Distracting. Ideas are sophisticated but not clearly stated.Better to do just a book of her painting and let them speak for themselves.

Great introduction to Frankenthaler
This book is a great introduction to non-representational art for kids. The text is easy to read and follow, which can be difficult when describing emotions in artwork. I would perhaps have liked to see some pictures of Frankenthaler’s actual art within the text.

Coloring Outside the Lines is Fun!
Dancing Through Fields of Color is pure delight. This biography about Helen Frankenthaler is informative as well as engaging with illustrations that are in the Frankenthaler style. So perfect. Elizabeth Brown gives us a bird's eye view of what it was like to feel the joy of creating colorful paintings.

Not what I expected.
My mistake in not previewing this, thinking it was an in-depth look at Frankenthaler’s work. It’s amusing and nicely done but not what I was looking for.

Story drags a bit
Nice story, but It's a little lengthy and wordy for the target age.
