loud enough to be heard but quiet enough to keep someone like me out of trouble.
good set up, i bought this kit to put on my 2012 Z71. installed in about two hours including the time i spent going to autozone and picking up the nessicary wiring, i used 14 gauge wire and a 15 amp fuse. the hardest part/most time consuming was the time it took to find a spot to mount it, and where to run the wiring through the firewall. (mounted it in the spot for the second optional battery).exellent kit for the price. relay was thrown in the trash. no need for one if the a heavy enough wire is used. decided to shrink wrap all connections and splices. hope this helps!

Awesome horn at a value price!
I bought this horn about 6 months ago and I still love it! The horn looked great right out of the box and it gets even better when you hear it for the first time. I bought this horn because in the past I have had two distracted drivers hit my truck because they were not paying attention. That is why I felt this horn will grab any distracted drivers attention, and believe me it does! I placed this horn under the radiator mounts so it wasnt noticeable and easier to hookup in the engine compartment. The mounting time of the horn and compressor only took me about 15 minutes as long as you find out where you want to locate it. The major task was to wire the system in correctly with the minimal instructions you recieve. If you need any help just call the customer service number because that is what I did. Connecting the electric took about an hour but was well worth the time. I used 16 gauge wire and an 15 amp inline fuse from the battery *(if you are not comfortable or do not know what you are doing with electric, please get this installed by a professional!)*. I also connected this horn to a switch inside the cab so that I would not have to dissconnect my steering wheel horn incase of a sudden emergency. The most important thing is that you mount the horn away from where rain will get into the opening, thats why I monted mine sideways. Also I mounted mine on a downward slant so if any condinsation or any rain some how got inside the barrel of the horn it would drip out before it ruins the solinoid. This is a VERY LOUD HORN.. tho I wish that the tone was just a slight bit deeper, I still love it tho... Shipping took a long time from UPS, not the sellers fault tho. Six months later the horn still works great with just the need of a little polish to the horn. Over all this is a great buy and well worth the money if you want people to hear you coming and avoid an unwanted accident due to typical distracted drivers!

No big deal
It's no louder then the factory horns already on my SUV. The compressor is very good with no noticeable delay. The mounting of the horn is fair. The rear mount of the horn is cheap plastic and even though bolts are included, when tightened enough to prevent wiggle or vibration, they will crack the base. The horn itself is cheaply made and arrived scratched. The relay is not required for my install. It requires a 30 amp fuse in the electrical wiring. The horn shaft mount is adjustable but for the life of me, I wouldn't know where I would be able to use it. I wouldn't trust this to be used for an outside install. Fair weather only. Engine compartment only.

Testosterone filled masculine sound, with very little lag if you install it right.
I had the Wolo Badboy horn prior to this one. It was so embarrassingly puny I had to pull it after 6 months. Then I found this one. Upon wiring it, I knew this is the one for my truck the second I honked it. It was loud and deep enough to give a testosterone filled masculine sound for a full size pickup.I cut the rubber tubing short and mounted the horn as close to the motor as physically possible--about 3 inches away. This reduces the lag next to nothing. When I pressed the horn, the sound come on instantly like an electric horn. And if I press the remote key to confirm doors are locked, the horn gives a very light puff like an electric horn will do.Now here are two little secrets: 1. make sure you tilt the trumpet down a little when you install it. This way water or condensation doesn't get into the horn. 2. Use appropriate wiring and a relay rated for 30 amps for more, so that you get enough juice to the motor to spin your horn. The gauge of the wire depends on how far it is from the battery. If you do it right, it should be as loud as advertised, and last as long as your vehicle. Now go enjoy your horn, and laugh at the other commenters who pissed and whined because they don't have the slightest clue about installing an air horn.

LOUD
The hookup of the train, once all the accessories were purchases, was quite simple. The only downfall of this purchase was the relay was broken upon arrival and I had to bypass it (still works normally)The horn is really loud (if placed properly) and does turn heads quite a bit when honked 300+ yards away..The sound carries quite a bit and no need to replace your factory horn either.. I used a push button to act as a secondary horn so I can push that instead of using the factory, but still have use of the factory horn as well.

Hey buddy, move over, damn it - honk - thank you!
I am a New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician ("EMT") and I often drive my privately owned vehicle ("POV") to a medical emergency scene from my home. All too often, even though my POV sports a full size blue LED strobe bar on the roof, cars in front of me will not yield right of way. I can use my POV's stock horn all I want, I can't get them to notice me.With this electric air horn, that has all changed. With just one blast from it, drivers in front of me see me in their rear view mirrors, and immediately yield. This horn gets the job done! When you install this electric air horn, you need to pay attention to a couple of things: 1. Use 12 gauge wiring for the actual horn circuit. Make sure all your connections are tight. 2. Be sure to put a fuse inline. The instructions say a 15 amp fuse is recommended, but it blew too often, and I have used a 20 amp fuse with no ill effect. 3. Be sure to slightly slant down the trumpet so water drains out. 4. Be aware that the instructions say that the air compressor of this horn should not be operated below 40 degrees F.Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of this electric air horn.
