Hard to believe it's over!
So many people die. That's what happens in a war. People you love, like, hate.Meira is taken in by Rares and his wife, Oana. They are part of the Order of the Lustrate. Not only do they give Meira a few revelations, they teach her how to use her power to the fullest. How to control herself. How to defeat Angra and his Decay.I love that more people came together to help the Winterians in the battle against Angra. I love there was a happy ending for a few people but was very saddened at some of the people that died. There really isn't a whole lot for me to say without giving out spoilers. This is one of those books that ever little thing leads to a spoiler with me. I can be simple and say there was the war, there were deaths, there were good things, there were bad things. Meira did see her mother again, in a sense.I was very happy with the overall ending, obviously not with the deaths, but with Meira, Mather and Theron and the kingdoms.I will always love the Winter kingdom the best. Not because of who's in it, but for my love of Winter and having places with seasons in a book was pretty awesome to me. ♥

... bought the first book in the series because Amazon recommended it to me on the home page
I bought the first book in the series because Amazon recommended it to me on the home page, and fell in love. I finished the first one in less than two days and bought the rest of the series right away. The books feel fresh, like a completely new idea rather than a barely concealed spin off of another series. The main character is at times a bit annoying in how stubborn she is, but at the same time it is a key part of who she is and it's nice to have a character with obvious flaws that eventually make her stronger. The books do at times use convenient plot points to get the characters out of bad situations, but it's not hard to get past that and get back into the story. The books are written for middle or high school students, so don't expect anything incredibly complex, but they're a good read if you are looking for a new fantasy world you can sink into.

A Satisfying Conclusion!
Frost Like Night is Sara Raasch’s exciting conclusion to the Snow Like Ashes trilogy! While I regret reading these last two books so far from the first one, I will say that I did enjoy this ending! It was the right way to end things and while there are a few loose ends I wish could’ve been tied up better, I am happy with where things are.Meira escapes Angra’s clutches just in the nick of time thanks to the help of Rares, who’s not just a librarian as she initially thought. He’s the king of Paisly and knows about magic and the powers that come from being your own conduit. It’s with his help and training that Meira will learn control over her internal powers and what she will need to do in order to defeat Angra once and for all.We once again get Mather’s point of view, and we watch as he and Phil break away from the Thaw in order to help Meira out more. There’s also a new point of view added to the mix, Ceridwen, the sister of the former king of Summer. She plans to help Meira with her quest and put an end to all magic. She longs to defeat the queen that stole Jesse from her and basically wreaked havoc over his kingdom. Everyone is joining together to stop Angra and his mad quest.Though, Meira knows that the only way to destroy all magic and therefore, Angra, is for a conduit of magic to be freely given to the chasm. And since Meira is her own conduit, she will have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the world. This book was both exciting and a little slow. There’s a lot of planning going on. Planning on all sides it seems. Angra is doing what he can to stop Meira while all her friends are trying to devise the best course of action to taking him out. That Theron has been magically manipulated to be on Angra’s side doesn’t help their cause. Meira and her crew are sorely outnumbered since Angra’s magic can basically turn anyone to his side. It’s those little moments that helped to make this book not entirely too slow. While a lot of planning was happening, there were little moments that happened in between that made things rather enjoyable!I feel like by the end of the second book, we all know who Meira is going to end up with. Again, by not remembering the first book well, I can’t remember whose “team” I was on. But for some reason, I always thought it would be Mather. Mather or no one really for Theron’s actions in the last book basically made me think he was out of the running. And it’s truly those friends first relationships that get me all sappy inside! I loved that Mather and Meira took time to realize the depth of their feelings for one another. Sure they loved each other as friends for so long, but having that love become something more was sweet.Just as I think Sara has stopped twisting our hearts, she surprises me several times throughout the end that she wasn’t even close to finishing! There were many losses in this book and it ate me up inside. And it’s in the aftermath of those losses that had me more upset than from the losses themselves. It’s a weird scenario, yes I was sadden by the deaths, but seeing the reactions of the loved ones left behind made me more weepy. And the fact that we don’t really get to know how these other loved ones are doing in the very end had me even sadder. Yes, we see these characters walking about, but how are they doing after everything? It seems we will never know. The losses aside, I will say that the ending was pretty epic! I can’t really say more than that without getting too carried away. While the majority of me is completely satisfied with the ending there will always be a part of me that wants to know more about everyone besides the main characters. But it never seems to work out that way, so I basically write it off in my head that within time, everyone was happy! Lol. This was a fun trilogy with a unique world and I quite enjoyed the journey.Overall Rating 4/5 stars

A Well Improved Finale
This improved just in the nick of time which gave this series a very satisfying conclusion. My biggest problem this entire series was the lack of great characters and the unnecessary POVs that were added in book two. I am saddened to say that none of this was really rectified but having Ceridwen as a POV helped because I found her character way more compelling then Mather or even our main protagonist Meira. The story was by far my favorite of the three books which I find quite shocking, especially in a YA series. I felt completely engaged from page one til the final page. This became so because of the strong world building that was very prevalent throughout this series. I am quite sad to say goodbye to this world but thankful because it didn't overstay its welcome.

Wow this was an emotional roller coaster of an ending to a wonderful trilogy. Miera really steps into her place in this world in this finally book she accepts what she thinks she has to do, as she finally gives into her feelings for her soulmate and comes to terms with what must happen for her to stop angra and his decay from destroying everything. The fight to save Primoria and rebuild to something new comes across in a heart breaking page turning epic conclusion to this three book series. I cried so hard at the end not only from the fact that the story is over but because of the thankful acknowledgements the author leaves for her fans. I also love that i was able to tweet and connect with the author as i read sharing quotes that made me laugh and that i really loved. This is a great series a must read for Ya Fantasy fans.

I really really loved the first book in this series
I really really loved the first book in this series. Unfortunately, the second book disappointed me, as did the first half of this book. The second half really picked up and I liked the ending. I feel like the series suffered from having the characters spend so much time split up and there wasn't enough time spent with them during "down time" between missions.

Guter Abschluss

Super recomendo!

The saga ends with happy tears
Meira's has been rescued by Rares Albescu of Paisly because he wants to ally with someone who he thinks has the same feeling towards magic as he and the other members of the Order of Lustrate do. He trains her in her use of her magic and she is able to reunite with the remaining members of her former cohorts. As she comes to understand the meaning of her powers it becomes more difficult to confront, or subvert, Angra in her quest to attain freedom for her new larger group of allies. Numerous twists lead to an interesting ending to the series.

Brava Sara Raasch!

had to stop reading
the other two books were doable but then i thought why not read the last book just because. well that was a bad decision. I dont think ive ever put a book down in my life and this book i finally put back on the bookshelf for good with about a hundred pages left to go. it was terribly boring and unbearable.
