Purchased this in order to clone my old SSD to a Samsung 970 EVO for my laptop. Worked perfectly fine, although you won't be able to use any of Samsung's SSD programs due to this showing as an external drive. It's now being used with the old SSD as an external drive for my Xbox. The enclosure got really hot during the cloning process, but runs much cooler with less demanding tasks like running a game. This is one of those items that you don't need to spend a lot of money on to receive something functional. I looked at pages of enclosures before deciding on this one. It looks exactly like it does in the picture and is about as noticeable as a flash drive when sitting next to your devices. I would recommend this.

This is the thinnest external enclosure I could find, and so far I really like it. However, a huge problem with this product in my opinion, and why this gets a 3 star instead of a 5 star, is that the included cable is extremely poor. It was continuously disconnecting from my system, and I kept getting 'improperly disconnected drive' error messages. Once I replaced the cable with a proper one (Anker USB C to C, USB 3 Gen 2 10Gbps 100W cable), I've had no issues whatsoever. Basically, if you want to use this enclosure for how slim it is compared to the other enclosures out there, you have to buy a decent USB C cable separately. If you plan to use it for very short sessions or small size data transfers, the included cable should be fine. If you plan to use it for large data transfers, your data will likely not survive with the included cable. I've done a full drive encryption, because macos Time Machine insisted, and the enclosure got extremely hot, almost burning temperature, so be careful with extended use sessions. However, I don't think it got hot enough to get throttled in speed, since NVME SSDs are rated to operate at high temperatures. If it got to a temperature hot enough to throttle, it should have burned my hand immediately on touch, but it took a second or two before it was unbearable that I had to take my hand off.

Running with an ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB 3D NAND NVMe Gen3x4 PCIe M.2 2280 on a 2020 MacBook Air, I get a maximum write speed of 890 MB/sec before thing crashes. Runs very hot. Not for this combination of hardware. Does not work for more than a few minutes.

Not working with a 970 Evo Plus. It was okay for a few minutes. Not sure yet if this is a controller or SSD problem. Same result using two computers. Another enclosure works fine, looks like mine failed, returning. Now, should that be a one-star, a three-star, or should I remove my review once refunded? Not sure.

I think the cable that it comes with may not support usb 3.1 gen2 speeds (10gb/s) When I tried to connect it to a USB 3.1 gen2 port it was very unstable and I couldn’t successfully format the ssd. I swapped it into a USB 3.0 port and it worked fine. I then changed the cable for a 3.1 gen 2 cable and it works in the higher speed port

I had never seen a SDD get that hot. This case gets extremely hot while transferring files and therefore the drive will lock itself. Also, very often, the USB connection will break during file transfer

Es lo más compacto y fácil de usar, cuenta con desarmador y los materiales son de primera calidad. No he tenido problema con PC ni MAC, acepta NVME 2230 hasta 2280. Incluso voy a comprar otro par para tener varias unidades SSD de alta velocidad, eso sí se calienta, y el case es de aluminio.

Por el precio la calidad del producto esta muy bien, trae sus propio destornillador e inclusive unos tornillos, viene bien empaquetado y no tuve inconvenientes al usarlo para clonar mi ssd.

Muy fácil de usar, lo utilice para clonar mi SSD en una laptop HP Omen, todo excelente.

Excelente calidad, rápido y funcional con un EVO PRO 870, disipa muy bien el calor, recomendado..!
