Great concept, could have been much more diverse
I read this to my almost 4 year old last night because she's starting to notice differences in body shape and size. The book is well made and nicely illustrated. One line in the book reads, 'Her body can choose kale or cake --yummy, yummy! Food is her fuel and feels good in her tummy.' The corresponding illustration shows the gal in front of a huge display of desserts and sugary decadence, all while wearing a shirt that reads 'Kale.' I wish better choices were included here. Nearly every parent understands the battle of getting our children to make healthy choices even 50% of the time. I don't need my toddler equating kale to cake. Cake is certainly not what I would call 'fuel' either. The book shows the main character wearing outfits that expose her belly often; where her shirts look too small. I don't want me daughter to expose her belly so casually in everyday outfits no matter what size she is.I think I expected this book to be a little more diverse, to incorporate all sorts of body acceptance. There is a boy shown with a prosthetic leg and a girl in a hijab, but no other differences stood out in the drawings. I think illustrating even more people of ALL different sizes, shapes, abilities, and backgrounds would have been a tremendous compliment to this book.Overall, we liked the book and messaging and will keep it in our collection.

A much needed book for young girls and more
When I read this sweet, well-thought out book, I first thought how perfect it will be for girls like my little granddaughter as she grows up. But, really it makes a great render for over critical grandmothers, parents, or anyone in the lives of a child. It’s also great for boys, as we often forget they suffer from body image issues as much as others. What a great book for all! I bought my Kindle copy and I will also have a hard copy at Grammy's house!

For all girls!
As a mom of 2 girls, it’s super important to me to instill a positive body image as much as I can. This book is uplifting and something EVERY little girl should read and memorize. The illustrations are beautiful too!

What an uplifting and body positive concept!!
I wish i would have had this book growing up! I was always one of the "bigger girls" and it was always a struggle wanting to fit in. This book is the epitome of self love.

This is THE book I needed when I was young!
This is THE book I needed, growing up in a body that wasn’t always accepted. I am so thankful that this book is available to my kids—representation and inclusion across the board is something that our children really need to see right now.

Great body positive book for young girls!
This is such a lovely story that you can feel good about reading -- it reminds little girls how our bodies come in all shapes and sizes and to appreciate the one you're given. My granddaughter chooses this one often for her bedtime story and I enjoy reading it. The images and language are fun and empowering for little ones and the cover is also a nice quality that holds up well to being well read often.I highly recommend this book for mothers and fathers who want to be sure to instill body-positive imagery and language into their little ones' minds and hearts.

Slightly disappointed, but a good start
I want to love this. I really do! But it feels a lot like the message that shines through is "you can love your body despite being fat" rather than "your body is lovely!". I wish it were more versatile, included different shapes of fat and skinny bodies, and was more of an adventure story featuring a fat girl who loves her body, rather than just about her being fat, if that makes sense. It's a start tho and I'm happy it's in our little home library, but it doesn't capture my little one and is rarely chosen from the shelf.

Simply Uplifting!
Such a positive story! My four year old has asked me to read this to her about 100 times already and we have only had it a few days. What I would have given to have a story like this when I was a little girl. They need to make a story like this for little boys too!

A must have for girls of every age
Such a wonderful story and a great way to remind our girls that all bodies do amazing things everyday. A perfect gift for any female in your life especially girls - it’s never too early to instil appreciation for everything our bodies can do.
