Best Hair Dye but read on to know EXACTLY what you're getting
Best Red Hair dye I've ever used. It comes with a slight bleach in it. My hair is pitch black and it took me some trial and error with a LOT of products to get it right. On the parts of my hair where I experimented, they didn't dye as easily, but the virgin came out blood red, especially when mixed with a bit of red! It's good I bought 4 because the next day, I used the other two to redye some of the darker spots and make it all even. It really does look like a salon-quality! When the dye comes out, my hair looks brown or a bit coppery, but it doesn't bother me at all. Brown is nice. Red is a hard color to keep up with, so dying the hair every two months (maximum) is best. Every month minimum is good. As a touch up, using this product on the roots and another red dye probably from manic panic on the already dyed hair will help keep the hair healthy. It's not good to continually bleach one's hair. If you don't want a POWERFUL and STRONG bright magenta and red to be showing, you can use the other L'oreal Excel Hicolor red or magenta that is NOT hilights. The hilights branch come out brighter and stronger. I didn't know this from the beginning and mixed the two products, wondering why my black hair didn't turn red! Contrarily, you can also use a 20 developer with this hilights Magenta and it would come out very nicely but not as strong as with a 30 developer. Oh and as a last advice, to prevent any bleaching damage, organic/virgin cocoanut oil can be applied to the hair graciously as least an hour ahead of dying. This helps your hair to dye easier and prevents damage. My hair is actually softer than before I dyed it because I used it! I hope this review helps. :D

Not For Dyed Black Hair!!! But Great On Natural Dark Hair. :)
WARNING: This dye is awesome, but only if you use it right! I had box dyed black hair (which I thought had faded enough for this, apparently not) when I used the Hicolor, I used two boxes of the Hicolor magenta dye, and 30 vol developer to cover all of my hair (I have hair that is about 15 inches in length) and followed all the instructions. But when I rinsed it out, my hair was still a dark black color, but with a purple tint, and my roots (the dark virgin hair) were bright beautiful magenta (the color I wanted all over my head) even though I still did them last. So I threw on a hat and made an emergency trip to the drug store and bought a box of bleach. After applying the bleach to my hair (NOT the roots! I added diluted black dye to the roots to darken them a bit) The black dye lifted, but the red dye stayed ( it was a lovely dark red, with some lighter and darker streaks throughout). I said a little prayer and applied my third and final box of L'Oreal Hicolor, which helped things even out and brighten up a little. It's been about a month, and it has faded a bit now (and oddly enough it looks darker than before it started to fade) and it has a nice pink undertone rather than an orange one, which is what I wanted. I just bought two more boxes and am hoping that the color will go even brighter afterwards. So if you have naturally dark hair, then this product will work fine. But if you have dyed black hair, I would highly recommend pre-bleaching it first (my hair doesn't even feel damaged from the bleach, so don't worry about that). Trust me, it will save you a lot of trouble.

This works!
I didn't think this would work as well as it did, but I went from a dark brown to a very nice blonde. The vanilla champagne does not take super well on silver hairs, but the effect it gave my hair is Amazing! Follow the instructions and trust the process (I was very very skeptical while it processed), it does wonders!

Light Auburn on dark brown hair
My hair was a dark brown, and Ive only used henna, so it was just a tang of reddish but its been about 5-6 months since I used henna. I wanted a lighter brown without bleach. Bought 4 packs off this color since I have a lot of hair and its long with 30 developer. I literally didnt use much of it. Granted, my friend helped apply it and im not sure how much she actually put on my hair, but I think 3 boxes would be enough. I left it on for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I should have left it on for a bit longer since some parts are more darker than others. My roots are way lighter on top. Here is my advice: Apply roots last or maybe after 30 min because they WILL come out lighter. It looks okay for me, looks like highlights, but left longer it could have been an issue. The color like I said makes it look like I have highlights which is nice. My hair was soft after washing. In the sun it looks way brighter. After washing it, when hair is dry, I did not see ANY difference...thought I wasted my money but once I dried it and woke up in the morning, it was different. I dyed it at night and my house has warm colors in lighting....

Worst thing I've ever used on my hair as an experienced dyer
This doesn't do what it says at ALL. It lifted my regrowth way passed the color on the bottle and did nothing to my regular hair. It won't work for hair with even a speck of dye in it. I am so upset I wasted money on this and the developer on top of it. All it did was bleach my roots and now I look like someone balding and it's going tp cost me even more to fix. I want my money back.

I used this with 30 developer as recommended on dark brown virgin hair and it did nothing. Waste of money.

Doesn't come with developer or gloves, you have to buy the developer separately which I didn't realise, for £20 you would think everything would be included. Not worth the price

This is the most amazing hair product for anyone wanting to go from a dark hair colour to magenta, even over dyed black. I sing it's praises to everyone. I used to bleach my hair to get to a pink colour which completely damaged it but with this I don't have to. I LOVE IT xoxox
