Llewellyn’s Finest Work To Date
I have thoroughly enjoyed Llewellyn’s talks and writings for many years. After immersing myself in this beautiful and deep dive into the nature of The Real, I have happily concluded that this book stands above all his other manuscripts. It is succinct and infused with the love, clarity, and wisdom that only direct, awareness-experience of The Real bestows. I unhesitatingly recommend this book to all sincere aspirants of Self-Realization, regardless of their path or religious/spiritual affiliations. Simply put — A Masterpiece — that points to the true, Unitive Nature of Reality and our Oneness in and as What Is.“If the prophecies are to be believed, if the signs are correctly read, we stand at a fulcrum, possibly at the beginning of a new era. At any such beginning it is vital to know what to let go and what to keep, what belongs to the age that is dying and what to the one being born. It is like moving house—what do we throw out, and what do we bring with us? There is always the danger that we would try to bring too much, that we would clutter the new space with unnecessary stuff. But there is also the possibility that we would not bring what we need, that something essential would be left behind. This story reminds us of a few things we must not forget—simple, ordinary things, like love and service and an awareness of what is Real.” ~ Excerpt from the epilogue of “For Love of the Real.”

This book is Real.
This book is Real. It is about what is Real in you and me.In the words of the author, it "tells a story. It is not a 'how to' book, not a book of spiritual instructions. It is a story, sometimes an adventure story, always a love story." And it is a story rarely heard: "This story tells us what was before the forgetting, and what has been hidden and never lost."It's a wonderful book for all mystical seekers - Sufis and Buddhists, who will find beautiful quotes from both traditions woven into that story and reflecting their shared essence -, and also mystics from all traditions who long for what is Real in a world of so much forgetfulness and distortion. And whether you are familiar with Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee's teachings or meet him in his writings for the first time, you have the chance to just immerse yourself in his whole body of teachings through this single book. Although I recommend to read his other books on various themes and listen to his talks, I found that in its essence, this book contains the whole of all his teachings. Thanks to Hilary Hart's editing, by finding an excellent way to weave the deep mystery and wisdom of Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee's teachings together with a reasonable thread running through the chapters, one can even follow with a good mind all the way through - though the book is not about ideas of the thinking mind and leads you so far beyond thinking patterns. That's so exceptional regarding this book: While reading you are taken deeply into a mystery that has been so long forgotten, and at the same time you do not get lost! You even remember the phrase after you read it, your mind is allowed to take part. The different worlds are linked together, and that's what the book is exactly speaking about: how we find the Absolute within creation, "how the worlds work together, how the love stories of creation are born, and how these threads are woven into our daily life" (LVL).This book is an extraordinary gift, something that in a very long period of time comes only once into the world. It is not only a gift, it is grace, because it brings us a message from places in times immemorial, almost forgotten today - as if surprisingly discovering ancient scriptures that were believed to be burnt and completely destroyed long ago. To open this book is maybe the one opportunity of a whole lifetime, an opportunity that must not be missed. And for sure, it carries good news for our hearts.

A curious analogy came to mind when wondering about just why I read ever so slowly through the pages of this book. Just half a page contains so much, is so rich - I have to close the book and 'marinate' in what has been read before to continue on another day. (It reminded me of the passage in the LordOfTheRings when the Hobbits were given Lembas bread(spelling?) made by the Elves. Just a small morsel would sustain one for a veryyy long way.)It's not just the beauty of eloquence and what it points towards to that makes me relish and being grateful for Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee's writings, but also that what shines through and with it. How that is woven into words, I have no idea and can't possibly know... Fierce and tender beauty on paper. As another reviewer/reader has mentioned: a gem.

The Pilgrimage of Life
I have been slowly reading and absorbing this book by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee. I find that I am drawn back again and again to the Prayer opening chapter 5 ... engaging with this prayer, as with this book, I sense within myself a true remembrance that Life is a Pilgrimage. For Love of the Real, a story (and what lies behind) continues to beckon ...
