Mic Holders Big Bang Distribution Hi-Hat Mic Mount

I love the idea of this product. Eliminate a mic stand and mic up your hi hat with a lightweight attachment to the hi hat itself. The problem is, the design is flawed, has been for a while, and they have done nothing to re-engineer it to make it more suitable for road work. Over the past few years I've owned 3 of these... and 2 of them have failed in the exact same way (the one that is still intact is in a recording studio and never moves). You can see in the photos that the way the shock mount and the bolt that you screw the mic clip into is poorly engineered and/or poorly manufactured. They are held together by...? A wing and a prayer it looks like. There is no evidence of any glue or other way these 2 parts were supposed to be held together. I am not hard on my gear, and my previous experience has taught me to be super careful with this component... and still, I used it for exactly 1 show, and it fell apart.I'm not an engineer, but I'm guessing it wouldn't take me long to figure out a way to make this more sturdy and road-worthy.If the manufacturer comes up with a 2.0 of this product that addresses this design flaw, it will probably be a 5-star product. For now, I would suggest to my drummer brethren that this is not something you can reliably trust for stage, and to relegate it to studio settings only.

I use this regularly on sound gigs since I got it- due to the pandemic I’m only in one location at the moment, so it has just stayed attached to the hi hat stand on the house kit. I have a blue encore 100i on the hi hat and this holds it perfectly and in the position I want without getting in the way or moving unintentionally. Very easy to install, remove, and adjust if needed.It arrived quickly from the seller with no issues.

Solid product for the money. It's very light weight. Easy to assemble and disassemble. Great for touring!

The height adjustment is not solidly set once engaged but has a wobble to it. Your mic stays put but not like a regular stand would be.

The HiHat mic holder works well, is sturdy and holds the mic in great position - freeing the need for another mic stand and out of the range of being hit. Very pleased with the design and how solid it is.

I mounted this to my hihat stand right after I got it, just to get used to it being there for when I record, and it has stayed in place for two months. Simple but elegant solution for getting that hat mic where you need it.

This works great. Only issue I have with it would be that it's not really "portable" and that the height adjustment thing sorta sucks on it. But I still love it....it's an easy way to get a mic on a hi-hat.
