50-Inch Hi-Boy TV Credenza and Media Console, No Tools Required, Walnut

Nice, solid stand that can hold more devices than most. I plan on putting some vintage audio equipment in with my home theater system and needed a bit more space than I had with my other credenza. It did go together fairly easily even with one person, although as other reviewers have noted, a rubber mallet is good to have on hand. It had a little damage on the back panel where something had punctured the carton during shipping. It only cracked a small portion of a black masonite panel and I was able to push it back into shape, glue it then color it with a magic marker. It isn't visible so not an issue and was caused by shipping so no stars off. All-in-all, I'm happy with the purchase.

We purchased this TV credenza in February 2014. It's a good looking piece and would blend well with a number of furniture styles.In October 2016 one of the glass shelves shattered. It happened in the middle of the night. Only 10-12 DVDs were on the shelf.The glass door was closed so the glass blew behind and below the unit. We have no idea what caused this to happen, but for safety,PLEASE BE SURE TO KEEP THE DOORS CLOSED.

I would consider this cabinet a mid-priced product. It doesn't compete with the high end cabinets like BDI (which I also bought for $1800), and is much better than what you would find at Walmart or Target. It is well designed and manufactured with precision. The panels are constructed of cabinet grade particle board veneered with real wood, and nicely finished with real wood trim. The no tool assembly is partially true. You will need a rubber mallet or hammer to get the side panels in all the way. The top panel is held on with snap connectors and is guided with dowels. The overall structure and integrity is good and I expect it to hold up well over time.When I was putting together my home theater design in my finished basement I was interested more in function than aesthetics, although I did want something that looked nice when I was finished. I shopped everywhere for a cabinet that met my tastes and this one, although a compromise, fit most of what I wanted. There are thousands of choices out there and most of them were designed by people who never in their life assembled a home theater or audio system. Why design a cabinet that can't fit 80% of the center channel speakers that are sold. In fact, most of them had no place for a center channel speaker. It is like designing a car and forgetting to put a seat in it.I am an engineer by profession and before starting a design project we always create a list of "design inputs". These are things that were necessary to make the design meet its objectives. If I am designing a bowling ball bag, a design input would be that at least 80% of the balls sold have to fit in the bag. To design a home theater cabinet I would consider every component that needs to go in there dimensionally and make sure they would fit properly. I would make sure there is a place for everything that most people would connect together. As a bare minimum, it has to be friendly to accepting a receiver which is the heart of the system.Here is my minimum list of wants in a cabinet:1. It needs to have a place for the center channel speaker. I excluded every cabinet without one.2. In addition, it needs to fit a receiver, cable box, DVD player, and a separate CD player.3. It has to have rear access for cabling. Cables have connectors that stick out. Connectors need to be allowed for.4. It has to be movable. It can't weigh 600 lbs, therefore most glass cabinets are out.5. It needs to have wheels to move easily. (I added wheels to this cabinet which allows me to move it with one hand to get to the wiring.)6. It needs to have glass doors to protect the contents from dust, and also that remotes can read through.How did we score? With the addition of wheels which are not included with this cabinet, and with some modifications to the back panel, I give it a score of 100%.I included pictures of the modifications.1. The wheels were purchased from Home Depot (Model # 49477) for $3.44 each (QTY of 4). They are 2 inch swivel rubber wheels and they can support 90 lbs each. They are held on with 1/4-20 x 1 1/4 long screws with nuts and washers. They are assembled to a 1 x 4 piece of oak wood that was lap cut on each end to 3/8 to fit. Picture provided to show the concept. It was stained to help hide the fact they are there and they are barely noticeable. When on the wheels, the cabinet rolls around easily. It was constantly moved around during this process. With the cabinet levelers all the way up, there is 1/2 inch of floor clearance. Once the cabling is complete and the cabinet no longer needs to be moved around, I will bring the levelers down to support the cabinet. There is a mid cabinet leveler that is important to bring down for support to prevent sagging.2. The back panel cut outs for cabling are too small. I can't imagine any receiver not having a problem with these holes. I enlarged the area with a battery operated cutting tool (Bosch PS60) fitted with a fine cut metal cutting blade to make a smooth cut. It cut it like a hot knife through butter. Any jig saw would work fine for this. I had a special problem with my CD player and had to make a good sized cut. BDI makes cabinets with removable back panels. This cabinet does not so you have little choice. I would recommend to the manufacture to consider a removable back panel or at least enlarge the area for the receiver.Lastly on the finish. My cabinet had two major finish flaws and I considered heavily sending this back to get another. But, my schedule to finish the project and the fact that I believe no one would likely notice them weighed heavily in my decision to keep it. The finish flaws looked like they were due to the cabinet top sitting on its top finished side, then was finished over. The surface is smooth but the marks are visible in two places.In the end, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this cabinet to others looking for that best compromise.

Unit came and was in pretty good shape (some damage to interior gables however). Instructions were included and unit seemed pretty straight forward to put together. The pins that are on the gables (that attach to the back and front) are meant to slide into a channel that you then push down on to lock into place (in theory). I'm not a little person and even with my full weight pushing down on them, I was barely able to get them to fit. I had already tried gentle force, more force, a hammer, and a mallet to absolutely no avail. Managed to finally get all of them in except for one side where a few of the plastic pins snapped off. Great, now what? Submitted online request for part at techcraft's website. No part number for those little pins, so I guess an entire gable will have to be replaced. So for now, I've got a broken half put together unit sitting in my living room. I'm still worried that even when I get a replacement, that it will go in smoothly. I should have spent the extra money for a put together and delivered unit. That's what I get for trying to cut corners.

Before buying this I had bought other furniture from OfficeDepot and it was very time consuming to assemble. When I got this I was prepared for the worst, but was pleasantly surprised. Very easy. The front of the unit is completely assembled in the box. You just literally slide some pieces together and you're done. The unit is very solid and gorgeous. Honestly, I did not expect it to be this nice. It's real wood and it's worth every penny.Biggest concerns for me were quality and ventilation for the audio and gaming equipment. The stand is well designed with ventilation in mind and I have noticed no issues with either my xbox or onkyo receiver.Lastly, the TV is much easier to view being on this TV stand, as opposed to a shorter stand. Fine product-----very pleased with design and ability to accommodate many stereo components and large flat screen TV on top. I needed a TV stand to put in our master. The stand was to be positioned on a wall opposite the foot of our bed, and the bed is rather tall. The stand itself had to be tall enough to allow the cable box and components to be controlled, as well as to present the TV in a comfortable viewing angle. This unit fit the bill perfectly, was of outstanding quality, was easy to put together.

Otherwise ok and what are you gonna do. Ps also UPS damaged console back with box puncture. Again no choice.
