Device didn't work but Saicoo made it right
1/3/16 update. No longer a 1 star experience. +Three stars for Saicoo support. Device had issues (see below) but Saicoo took action to make it right. This is rare in electronics companies selling peripherals. Bad devices happen, but if the company is willing to support the customer, you're covered. Note that the device was past the Amazon 30 day return window. Thanks Saicoo!Original review: Won't recognize my SONY 128GB SDXC cards. Based on the review of Gentle Reader I don't think I'm going to risk burning out a 128GB SD card and losing all the images on it by trying another Saicoo device. In my workflow all images are on the card at first and you don't create a backup until you download the card to the computer. If the reader destroys the card all the photos you are dead. That kind of failure should be engineered out of a card reader.

Feels cheap but functional
Seems to work ok for the most part. I use it to connect to my RAV FileHub while reading memory cards from my dash cam and transferring files to my external hard drive. I don't think it's this product's fault, but the last memory card I plugged in showed as being empty in the FileHub app when there were indeed files loaded. Probably an issue with the RAV. At the same time, the slot for the SD card is not deep at all, the unit feels pretty cheap, and I'm concerned the slot's contact with the memory card may not be very solid.

extremely slow
First review: I am using this hub with my Surface Pro 4. I use it to connect my USB key for wireless keyboard and mouse. When I connect a second USB interface (e.g., camera or USB key), transfer is extremely slow. I do not recommend this item at all. After my review, Saicoo sent me a second unit for free, which is good customer support. The new unit works fine. However, I only give 3 stars because of the random factor in getting a defective unit.

SAVED MY LIFE!!
I am so happy that I searched options on what to do for a corrupt camera memory card. It said to buy a card reader and based on the reviews, I bought this one. Very happy with my purchase and I was able to see my puctures and save them onto an external hard drive. Also makes my life easier when trying to review my pictures from a camera and not having to drag my huge camera and its attachments. I will definitely get good use out of this product!

It does what it's intended to do. My only ...
It does what it's intended to do. My only concern is that after a brief use (5-10) minutes browsing photos on my SD card it was quite warm. I don't want to say it was hot but I was concerned that prolonged use may overheat it and did not want to risk the files on the attached devices

MacBook 12" users beware!
USB ports do not work on MacBook 12" (Early 2015), running El Capitan using Apple USB-C Multiport HDMI adapter. They do work on a much older MacBook Pro. SD card reader works on both. Restarting does not help. Very frustrating as I leave for Europe in a few hours.Update: The problem seems to be that the hub does not pass enough power to operate certain items such as the Apple Superdrive and the Seagate 2 TB slim drive. The lights come on but no action. When you plug in the Superdrive a message comes up saying it needs to be powered which is not the case when it's plugged directly into the Multiport adapter. The hub works with USB flash drives.Second Update: The seller has graciously refunded the purchase and is working to sort out the problem. The Saicoo USB-C hub does work on the MacBook 12" but then you have no external power.

Looks good and works great overall, however it will not recognize some SDHC cards.
Looks good and works good overall as a USB 3.0 hub, however it will not recognize my Lexar 16GB SDHC or generic SDHC bundled with my Panasonic camcorder from Costco. It works fine with my ScanDisk 8GB SDHC and 32GB MicroSDHC cards.

I got more than I expected, 5 ports in all
I bought this for a Raspberry Pi project. You get more than the offering title suggests- it is a 3 USB port plus SD and microSD, 5 ports in all. And ready for USB 3.0 as I upgrade my equipment from current USB 2.0. I just going to have to order a couple more of these!

A useful compact travel hub at a very good price!
this appears to be a very adequate and compact travel hub. Quality of construction appears fine and it performs without a problem. of course, it does not support an external power supply. Therefore it cannot run devices that require high power (e.g. large disk drives, DVD drives, etc.). However, for jump drives, WebCams, and other electronic low-power devices, it works perfectly!

Compact device but limited functionality
Pros:Small, compact and easy set up (just plug it into computer and drivers automatically install).Cons:Wire is pretty short. You will most likely have to buy a usb ectension cable depending on your desktop setup. It appears to get slightly warm/hot when many devices are plugged in. It does not work with external hard drives (which is why I returned it) such as the WD passport as it is unable to provide sufficient power to the hard drive.

I wouldn't recommend it. If you have a smaller 4gb card
Doesn't read my 32gb SDHC cards. Says they need to be re-formatted which will wipe everything off it.Since this is the only reason I bought it, to read my large SDHC cards, I wouldn't recommend it.If you have a smaller 4gb card, it worked.
