Spectacular, versatile product
Absolutely love this. I have been using e-readers for many years, starting with the Sony PRS series and moving on to Kindle. My main choice for moving to Kindle was because the note-taking and highlights synchromise with the Amazon account and can be accessed and copied from the Amazon website. The main disadvantage of Kindle is of course being locked to the Amazon system and not being able to use books from elsewhere (except very limited ability to sideload non-DRM books from which the notes and highlights won't sync). The BOOX is great because I can still access all my Kindle books with the Kindle app, and I can still share and access my notes and highlights from them in the same way as before, but it has also opened up the ability to use Google Play Books, buy books from there when preferable, and use Google's synchronising ability on notes and highlights which shares with Google Docs (and in my opinion is a better, more accessible, and more flexible system than Amazon's).Then of course I can also use other Android apps, reading apps, journal and newspaper subscription apps through Android too. Finally, the native Onyx BOOX app for reading is far better for reading PDFs than any other app I have ever used, enabling handwritten notes and highlights which can be saved to the PDF and exported. You can also turn the screen and have a parallel document and notepad, and writing with the stylus, (or adding diagrams, or doodling, or drawing) is easy, and sharing/exporting is as easy as pointing a smartphone at the QR code that appears on the BOOX screen.I wish I could afford one of the bigger screen versions (Note2 or Max3), but in the meantime, this device really addresses all the things I've grumbled at in other e-readers over the years and I couldn't be more pleased with it.Update after 4 months of use: Still just as happy as when I got it. I use it all the time and find it really helpful. The built-in note taking app is great, and I use Autosync from the Google Play Store so that my notes (and the text recognition of them - yes, it doesn't do badly even with my scrappy handwriting) are automatically synced to the cloud so I can access them on any device.I've read reviews complaining about no Google Play Store and criticising Onyx for this. Actually it is because Google refuse to license E-ink devices for Android. There is an easy (and official - it's not a "hack") way round this involving you registering the individual device yourself with Google, and the latest Onyx BOOX updates make this really easy to do just by following the instructions on the device. After this, Android apps just work. I haven't yet come across one that doesn't. (Obviously I wouldn't try using an e-ink device to watch video, but even that works, better than I would have thought. The device has different settings for screen updates which can be adjusted for each app, so that you can have frequent screen refreshes with loss of detail and contrast or less frequent ones to keep the page white and the ink black, as in when turning pages of an ebook. Mostly the presets are fine.)

Not too bad
If you want to install other reading app on a Ereader then it it a good opition, otherwise choose kindle would be a better/reasonable choice

Valuable and cost-effective e-reader
I would say this e-reader is amazing and valuable. Compare to other brands, this device is worth to get one, it has all functions that I needed, however, the sensitivity of pen writing seemed not good enough, if I compare it with my iPad, it seems a bit hard to say it’s good for long time writing, but all good for reading and other services, especially it is allowed to download other book store apps, then I can get all books that I want from any kind of online book stores.

Long term review after using for 10 months every day.
Mission 1: I am on a decade long pursuit to become paper-free (or at least as close to it as possible) and have my notes/sketches/doodles organized in a single place. The Boox Nova 2 was the latest attempt in my journey.I first saw the device at CES 2020 when after a demo I was sold on the capabilities and for it running on Android 9 and I thought that most apps that I was used to on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 N5100 (the obscure tablet released in 2013, not the phone) would work well but with a more paper-like feeling to writing and long battery autonomy. My original idea was to keep Evernote as my notes solution. But either the app is excruciating slow or the amount of ghosting makes it impossible to use! Also forget Evernote's handwriting on the Nova 2, this feature was already bad on regular Android, on Boox devices the amount of lag makes it impossible to use. The same is valid for OneNote and other handwriting apps, just too much lag for them to be useful.I then reverted to Boox's note app, since it synced with Evernote. The UI is OK and the response rate is a lot better, it is a good note-taking app. However there is a BIG caveat: it does not have PC/Mac versions, so no way to edit your notes on a computer, and Evernote sync is only oneway. It does save notes on Dropbox, but still, no way to edit notes elsewhere.Mission 1 failed! My notes are now split into 3 different apps (Evernote, S-note and Boox Notes)...---Mission 2: use the Boox Nova 2 as an e-ink readerAs an e-reader it is brilliant, I can read Kindle, PDF, ePUB, Financial Times, Medium and The Economist really well!Mission 2 success!----Pros:+ Battery Life+ Screen feel when writing+ Great to read (including the backlight!)+ Palm rejection on most apps I triedCons:- No bidirectional sync for notes with Windows or Mac- Lag on non-Boox-native apps (Evernote, Onenote, Noteshelf, etc.)- Slow- Google Play not enabled out of the box (this is a joke, seriously get your device approved by Google!)- Shady Boox App Store: "All of the proposed apps in App Store are collected from the internet, for study reference only"- ExpensiveMessage to Boox: The hardware is not bad but the software needs a lot of work.

Disappointing and depressed
The device repeatedly crashed and turned off. Now returning for a new one.The screen protector has no application tools ie: wipes and squeegee so is almost impossible to apply bubble free if any dust or particulates get in the way. I'm loosing hope with the device and low quality seems to be a theme with this company.UPDATE:the replacement says server error when I try to update.UPDATE: issue remains but good customer support have confirmed that the device is on the latest version. I have Access to all the features I need and it works. The device it's self is good but it's let down by its software.

Was soll ich sagen?

Buena funcionalidad
