The water then passes down through the various stages of filtration media(6 Stages). After water passes through the final biological stage, it makes it way up the return pipes and back into the pond. Maintenance The Mega XL filter comes complete with a waste drain for flushing the dirt out from the filter box. To clean the foams simply take some rain water or pond water and clean the thick debris from the foams, this ensures you are keeping the good filter bacteria alive and in the filter system.
