Bank Fishing for Steelhead & Salmon

This is a very informative book for a newbie like me
I read it and I'm convinced: clear descriptions, helpful photos and diagrams, well organized. I haven't fished in decades, and I didn't know what I was doing then, so I've been trying to assimilate all its information, and I'm testing out the techniques along a local river, and so far, so good. I'm not fishing for steelhead yet, but that's the plan for this summer and fall. Thanks.

PNW fishing
This is a great book full of info if you plan to fish for salmon and steelhead in the rivers of the pacific northwest. I have learned a lot from this book and my son and I have caught plenty of salmon. It's crazy to watch these fish go through there spawning cycle and then fade away for the next generation to take their place. This book shows you the basics of the sport and then some(plenty of info though, more to it than you might think). I might buy another book specific to drift fishing. I wish there was more rigging illstrations and more detailed info on methods of fishing like drifting. All in all a great read and I would recommend it to anyone looking for info on salmon fishing. One side note: you don't need really expensive gear to catch fish. They don't care. Just make sure it works for your application and take care of it. Rivers are tough on gear, people and fish. Good luck!

Save Your Money
Slick paged booklet with lots of scenic color pictures, but only one page dedicated to illustrating terminal gear and absolutely nothing about WHERE to bank fish in Washington. Frankly, any of the information in this booklet can easily be found at no cost on the internet. Waste of money.

Adequate
Takes a position that a person already knows a fair deal about the sport itself. I was hoping it was more of a "for dummies" kind of aspect, as I am relocating to Alaska and am adept at Midwest angling, but was hoping for a "take it from the top" kind of approach. The chapters just sort of jump into what you would be doing as if the camera suddenly "jumped" to you fishing in the middle of a stream-almost like a show on Outdoor Channel, if that makes sense. ** "...We now join John Doe on the Chena River as he pursues...." **

Could be the answer.
Haven't had a chance yet to try out the techniques described in the book but will soon. Easy reading and understand. Am anxious to put get out and try to catch a salmon. Bill
