The 3M Rugged Comfort Quick Latch Half Facepiece Reusable Respirator 6500 Series helps provide workers with respiratory protection in harsh, dirty work environments against airborne contaminants when used with approved 3M cartridges and filters. This facepiece combines comfort, durability, and stability with a firm, lightly textured silicone faceseal and strong body construction. The proprietary quick latch design offers an easy, one-hand touch drop-down mechanism for putting the facepiece on and taking it off while moving in and out of contaminated areas. The quick latch also eliminates the need to remove a hardhat or faceshield when lowering or raising the respirator. When properly fitted and used with approved 3M cartridges and filters, this respirator helps provide respiratory protection in workplaces at concentrations up to 10 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL). While being the lightest silicone 3M half facepiece, it is still rugged enough to withstand long hours and extreme conditions. The resilient silicone faceseal offers an extended facepiece life, even keeping its shape in high-heat environments. Innovative design features include a valve cover that helps to direct exhaled breath and moisture downward and 3M’s proprietary Cool Flow Valve that helps to make breathing easier. Made to fit securely and comfortably on the head, the facepiece comes with an adjustable head harness assembly featuring long-lasting polyester/spandex straps that stretch and conform to the individual who wears the respirator. This facepiece is compatible with all 3M bayonet-style filters and cartridges to help provide respiratory protection against a variety of gases, vapors, and particulate hazards (i.e., dust, paint aerosols, etc.) according to NIOSH approvals. This filter compatibility helps to make the respirator highly versatile for many workplace environments and a variety of jobs where respiratory protection is required. Warning: Respirators help protect against certain airborne contaminants. Before use, the wearer must read and understand the User Instructions provided as a part of the product packaging. Follow all local regulations. In the U.S., a written respiratory protection program must be implemented meeting all the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 including training, fit testing and medical evaluation. In Canada, CSA standards Z94.4 requirements must be met and/or requirements of the applicable jurisdiction, as appropriate. Misuse may result in sickness or death. For correct use, consult supervisor and User Instructions, or call 3M Personal Safety Division (PSD) Technical Service in the U.S.A. at 1-800-243-4630. In Canada, call 1-800-267-4414.

Great Seal, Good Product
Fantastic product, but a little pricey. Also, this does not come with ant filters.

Good-Bye to the Smoke from this Summer's Forest Fires...
I hesitated... wondering if I could bear wearing this ugly thing.... but I threw my male vanity to the ground and haven't looked back (or in the mirror, either, for that matter! ha!)With thousands of acres of our glorious boreal forests ablaze, the smoke was getting to be unbearable. This ugly thing really works!Recommend!

Works great
After reading all the reviews, I ended up buying the Medium. I used that for a couple years knowing it was too small. I finally bought a Large and it fits way better and more comfortable. It hurts a centralized part on the upper part of my nose when I wear it for an extended period of time, but not enough to make me take it off.Filters change very easily, and the flip feature is great for popping it loose for a second to talk to someone who comes into the shop on onto my jobsites.I can see myself continuing to buy and use these for the longevity of my career doing renovations and custom woodworking.

Well made, like the easy latching system
I purchased this for work as i am mechanic by trade, your probably thinking why would need something like this as a mechanic? Well the short answer is i like my lungs clean as breathing in chemicals, brake dust, etc isn't something i want. I solely purchased this also a worth while investment as it's something that's good to have around in case of some body work or home renovations so i think even though i may not use it at work all the time. I have used the disposable ones that are just so cheaply made and doesn't have adequate protection and are just plain garbage and break way too easily so in new it was time for a upgrade to something more permanent. It's a good device to have around but picking one was a challenge because there was so many different types and styles so trying to pick something that i would like is a challenge but you really can't see it in person also picking a size was a challenge. I purchased this one because of the latching system and the "cool flow" which points the exhaust at the bottom. Surprisingly this was cheaper than i was expecting as i thought it would be more money but then again you do not get any filters with this just the mask but i have someone that could get free filters from work so it was just the mask i was worried about.I just went ahead and purchased a medium because i have a small face but it was more a guess. Shipping was FANTASTIC, not even two days and was at my door. First off i like that is comes in a resealable bag so i can be stored inside so dust and other dirt can get at it while not in use but second of all the comfort is great and ordered the right size. It isn't too large but isn't too small so it fits prefect. What i really like is the exhaust is focused to the bottom so when you exhale it blows out the bottom so it doesn't fog up glasses either safety or eye sight glasses which i wear so i rarely have them fog up. The rubber around the mask is quite comfortable to wear and seems like it would be after a long period of time wearing it.The only downside like others have stated is the latch or clips that are on the straps is quite cheap. If you are going to be using this day in and day out then i think they would break very quickly. The are cheap plastic and don't think they would hold up to daily abuse. Bending the tabs makes me cringe because i do not want to break it because breaking the tab renders the mask unusable to wear so i be very careful while pulling the tab back to loosen it. I like the bottom tab because you can connect it and disconnect it quickly but even though that is plastic is makes it quick work of it.Even though the latching system is cheap plastic i think the mask is good quality otherwise. It provides a decent seal on my face and like the comfort of it but especially like the exhaust system. The filters that i have twist on easily and twist off. I replace mine every few months once they get dirty. I expected a bit more quality from 3M, especially on a "safety" product, but it does the job as I'm sure I'll be able to rig something when it does break.Overall i would say that i think it was a decent purchase and was a good price but wish it was a little better made.

Decent mask? Terrible flimsy attachments.
I can't really review the mask itself, I didn't have time to wear it, it arrived already broken in the already opened plastic bag. The mask seems fine, but the attachments, I don't see them lasting very long. I'm sending a picture, the top piece is supposed to be like the middle one, you can see where it snapped, the plastic will turn white if you fold it just a little, telling you it's about to break. All the attachments are the same, flimsy plastic. So... Back in the ziploc bag it is, and going back in the mail tomorrow.

Great mask, but arrives unsealed.
This is the third time I've purchased this mask, second from amazon, and both times from amazon the mask arrived in its plastic ziploc packaging already open, unsealed. The first time around I returned the mask as it was supposed to include 2 filters, but they were missing. This mask appears to be mostly new, hard to tell since it wasn't sealed.Quality of the mask itself is excellent. Comfortable and the quick latch is quite handy. Worn for extended periods, you will get a bit sweaty, and condensation from your breath will drip out of the exit holes, but this is to be expected of any face mask.I use the 3M Particulate Filter 2097 for woodworking and painting. 3M Particulate Filter 2097

Love the latching system
Love the latching system, quite comfortable and 3m filters fit perfectly. I really like the exhaust going down and out of the way; I've never had my glasses fog up. Also quite comfortable. So far, after using it for a month it has held up well because I keep it clean and take care of it. I wish it was a bit more durable, as the straps and strap pulls seem like they'd break eventually, but I suppose they tried to keep the materials as light as possible to avoid excess weight.Comes in a seal-able bag, which I would suggest keeping to put your mask in when not in use so it doesn't collect extra dust, grime, etc.

I thought the soft rubber on this higher end version would seal a bit better. Also not a fan of the clip
Works well as long as you keep it tight. At what I thought was initially "tight enough", I had paint over spray traces on the bridge of my nose showing I was still sucking in air around the mask. I thought the soft rubber on this higher end version would seal a bit better. Also not a fan of the clip. It's very thin plastic, with an extra $.02, this could have been made to last. Bending it a few times while taking it off will quickly do it in.I'd expect a bit more coming from 3M, especially on a "safety" product, but it does the job, just not sure how long it will last before the neck clip gives in. I'm sure I'll be able to rig up some type of repair when it does.

Worth the investment!
So far I’m very pleased with it. It fits comfortably and seals well on my face. It is worlds better than those disposable face masks. I wish I invested in this years ago to be honest. I went with the large size based on other reviews, and it fits perfectly. I’m 6 ft tall with an average size head, and large was perfect. I really like that I can interchange the filters depending on the type of job I’m doing as well. So far, I noticed that I can breathe so much easier through this than the disposable face masks.

Perfect for Welders!! Easy to take on and off
I purchased this respirator about a month n some ago to replace the 6200 series mask I was using, and lemme tell you..This is THEE perfect respirator for welders, without having to pay hundreds on a PAPR system. Bought the large and it fits perfectly.Although!! I taped the back connecting straps that go behind your neck together with fabric hockey tape since the last ones on my 6200 3M snapped and fell off somewhere in the lab. I couldn't seem to find any replacement parts for them, so Must be 3Ms way to get customers to purchase these more frequently (since these are so durable!!!!)Other than that slight issue, this product still gets 5 stars: for its pricing, fast shipping, product durability, and ease of use underneath a welding hood (also works extremely well with any other application! Plumbing, drywall, etc.)PROS-Cheap. Fast shipping. Durable product. Quick release system works really well no more fussing with the tight straps. The air exhale blows DOWN AND AWAY from your welding lens and work!!!!, easy to use and has various applications it can be applied toCONS-The filters (particularly the pink disc P100 Particulate filters) are pretty pricey. Also the two connecting straps that go around the back of your neck seem prone to falling off so you may as well tape them with fabric tape (plus it acts as a sweat band !!). And finally, if you're a bigger guy like me and tend to sweat easily, when it's humid out your glasses will tend to start taking on a lot of sweat (but that happens to me anyways almost on a regular basis, just slightly more prominent with the masks, not just this one in particular). Please 3m, make replacement parts available for the straps ! And also try and lower filter prices if you can, I go through 1-2 a week at times.Other than those bits, unreal mask!!! Get it for sure

Fits well
I'm 6'2" and 200 lbs with a relatively large head. The large fits me. The seal is good, even with facial hair, and would be no doubt be 100% with a clean shave. The quality looks good, other than the fasteners, which appear somewhat flimsy. They haven't broken but I haven't used it much either, so we'll see how they hold up over time. The downward venting is nice if you're wearing any eye or face protection. The bag was open when I received it, which isn't reassuring for something that you're sticking on your face and breathing through since it makes you wonder who was handling it, if someone wore it before you, and what was done with it before it came to you.

Came open and smelling like it was doused in cologne
I think the product that was shipped to me was a previously returned item. Because it came in an open ziplock bag.. And both the bag and the mask had a terrible ointment / balm / perfume type smell that I could smell right after opening the cardboard shipping box. I thought it might be something similar to the "new plastic" smell that many products have...but this was clearly not typical and made me gag just trying to put it on. I tried washing and airing it out... but it didn't help. Had to return it. Will try my local hardware store to see if it comes in slightly more substantial and sanitary packaging (with some guarantee it hasn't been worn before) ... And will smell it before taking it home. Otherwise it looks and fits like a good mask.

Medium? Go for Large
I initially couldn't decide what size to go for but after reading reviews, I went with large. Usually I wear medium but this mask fits me perfectly. The rubber around the face seals nicely but the straps are a wee bit flimsy. Luckily (knock on wood) I havent broken the straps but they could be designed better. Overall, it works really well for my needs.

What can I say, this mask probably saved my life. I keep it in the shop and use it EVERY time I do something that generates any kind of dust. I use it with the 3M Advanced Particulate Filter 2297 and the 3M Tekk Protection Organic Vapour Replacement Cartridges, (6001PB).

5 Stars
I have been using this respirator along with the 3M Particulate Filter 2097 for over a month now and I can honestly say this setup is a complete game changer. I am woodworking in an enclosed 2 car garage for hours on end creating massive amounts of sawdust in the air. I can wear the mask for the whole day without any discomfort. It’s not too tight on the nose, doesn’t irritate my skin at all. It filters the air so well that I go hours without smelling a single thing. I have tried other respirators / face masks and I can tell you I wouldn’t be able to continue my passion if it wasn’t for this respirator and filter. It works so well I would recommend it to anyone over anything. Thank you 3M.

3M doesn't make junk.
I dabble in fiberglass and other hobbies using spray paint, varnish etc... along with 60926 filters it's like breathing fresh mountain air. I got a large mask, although a medium might have fit a bit snugger for a better seal. Good quality product as expected from 3M. I never use the "quick release" feature...seems pointless.
