Some of the Best Comics Ever
Stan Sakai's comics about a feudal Japan populated by anthropomorphic animals, and the rabbit ronin (that is, samurai warrior without a lord) Miyamoto Usagi, are quite possibly some of the best-written and constructed comic stories I've ever had the pleasure of reading. The artwork is distinctive and rich, bringing to life this world of talking animals, samurai duels, ninjas and more. Just as impressive is the plotting, as Sakai brilliantly creates various engaging stories with his characters: from Usagi himself to others, Jotaro the aspiring samurai, Katsuki the old samurai master (one of the most moving stories in the book, "Bells" is a look into his past), and Sasuke the Demon Queller.I'd highly recommend any of the Usagi books, be it to fans of Japanese history and culture, or to comics fans looking for a good series.

Some of the best stories in the series.
The quality here is just as good as previous volumes, I love that the books are the same size as a comic book, rather than the smaller digest size. Some people complain that the issues between "Return to Atsuta Shine" and "duel at Kitanoji" is a low point in the series. I would disagree, but no one can deny that Kasuichi's duel is one of the high points in the series. On top of everything else, the first book in the three collected here has what might be my favorite panel in the whole series. The scene with the Lone goat and Usagi on the bridge. If you don't want to start at the beginning of the series this book would serve as a decent entry point. This volume or volume 2 would give you a good sample of the Usagi story line without relying heavily on previous material like Volume 3 does.

... considering buying this volume you probably already know how awesome the series is
If you are considering buying this volume you probably already know how awesome the series is, and this review is pointless. It is an excellent book. Looks amazing on the bookshelf next to the Fantagraphics special edition collection and the other 5 Dark Horse editions. Huge book by the way.

Another perfect book by Stan Sakai
Another amazing collection of Sakai's USAGI YOJIMBO series. This volume collects 600 pages of stories about everyone's favorite rabbit samurai originally published in the early 2000s. The supporting cast members Jotaro and Katsuichi Sensei really shine and are expanded on in this book.

Addictif !
