My Heart Is Ever Present: Music for Trumpet

Tine Thing Helseth's CD My Heart Is Ever Present is one of the most uplifting, inspiring and hauntingly beautiful recordings byany artist that I have heard until now. The selection of music and the expressive and emotional playing of each selection may verywell be hard to surpass.This is not a recital of bravura showpieces or old warhorses; rather it is a selection of Christmas carols (both Norwegian andtraditional), hymns, a sinfonia by Torelli and arias by Handel and Purcell. The short 3 movement sinfonia is well done as are thearias sung by a soprano (am writing this review without the CD in front of me, so don't remember her name - sorry). But the highlights are the carols and Norwegian songs which are performed with such sweet and unforced beauty which one rarely hears on atrumpet. Hence, my reaction as noted above - relaxing yet emotionally uplifting at the same time, such that the CD may even reduceone to tears. The title tune on Track 3 is particularly beautiful, but each track is guaranteed to please and have you playing theCD over - you don't want it to end; it is that good!In comparison to Ms. Helseth's concerto CD, I find the issue under review more expressive and better thought out interpretively. Thecocerto disc (her debut recording) certainly has virtuosity but left me cold, wanting more expressive playing, No such problemswith the present recording. To sum up, beautiful, heartfelt performances and first-rate sound. Buy it now - it is worth the wait ittakes to arrive.

I love music and seem to have a better than "average" appreciation for many of its nuances. I know the liking or disliking of any given style is, of course, very subjective. But having said all that, I find this young artist's performance and technique truly amazing. The tone of the notes that she brings out of the trumpet is simply beautiful. Her performance is very nearly flawless. (The few that I have noticed you have to be really paying attention to even hear). I love her style and HIGHLY skilled and talented technical ability, as well as her musical interpretation of a given piece. She stated somewhere that she feels her music is her voice. In my opinion, her "voice" is amazing!

Beautiful "In the Bleak Mid-Winter"

If you've never heard Time play a trumpet you are missing something special. WOW

This is my favorite album by her. I am not too observant, and didn't realize it was a Christmas album. So I was a little shocked when I first played it. However, she is right the best music is associated with this season and she plays it beautifully. I will not listen to this only at Christmas. It's music will always be present with me.

Tine plays as though the music were being played by her very soul and not a musical instrument. The poetic character of her Norweigen roots comes through in every track most especially in "In The Bleak Midwinter" and "My heart is Ever Present." I found myself privleged to experience an artist of her caliber and I find myself listening to this album over and over again and each time discovering that I enjoy it even more.

This is a beautiful album, with a Christmas focus, but can be enjoyed any time of year. Wake up to it, play it as soft background music, or turn up the volume and relax. Probably will not easily fall asleep to it! Though the last song has a New Age title, I have long known it as "Fairest Lord Jesus."

Wonderful performance of some great Norwegian Christmas tunes by Ms. Helseth and other instrumentalists. Highly recommended for those looking for a nice combination of traditional Christmas music and hymns by a gifted trumpet player.

Den in the other review is right on the money. This is superbly and tastefully arranged and played, with beautiful, burnished tone. There are some old warhorses in there, but even they respond to Ms. Helseth's magic lips. The hymn tune "Deilig er jorden" that finishes the album brings tears to one's eyes. You need this CD. Yes, you do.

I heard an excerpt from this disk two years ago, I liked it, and so I bought it. Thirteen good pieces out of seventeen.

eine schöne Weihnachts-CD. Die Trompeterin hat einen sagenhaft klaren Ton, geradezu perfekt - sehr schön ! Auch dieSängerin überzeugt - alles schön, aber nicht kitschig !

TINEのＣＤは何故か、なかなか手に入りにくく、前にこのディスクを買おうと思ったら絶版状態だったので、今回慌てて買いました。今も品切れです。もちろんＭＰ3やストーリーミングで購入できますが、当方古い人間なのでＣＤとして手元に置いておきたいのです。Tine Thing Helsethのディスクはどれも素晴らしいのですが、これが一番のお気に入りです。クリスマス曲集になっていると思いますが、あまり聞きなじみのない曲も多く、新鮮な感じでわたしは年中聞いています。伸びのある音と、軽やかな歌心はトランペットという楽器の制約を超えた自由闊達な音楽を表現していて、これを聞いた誰もが幸福な気持ちになるようです。技術に溺れることなく、ストレートに音楽の美しさや楽しさ、身近さを体感できる素晴らしい演奏です。もっと多くのディスクを出してくれると良いのですが、YOUTUBEもディスク発売当時から増えていませんね。これからに期待します。
